First of all, how do we want to run the league?
Scheduling:
Option 1: Let everyone play whenever
Option 2: Have a structured schedules so we know when we're suppose to play who.
I would go with Option 2 because Option 1 won't work as well because we'll have to wait until one or two people finish all their games at the end so we won't know when the season will end.
As for option 2, we'll have structured schedules and decide who plays who at what time. If one of the person can't make it on the scheduled time, they can PM the person who they're suppose to play and rearrange the gametime within the week.

I think you should start season asap
My suggestion for schedule:
Each week each team is matched up with another team, during that week you play your 3 games against your opponent. You should be able to play other teams whenever you want. If you dont have any games to play one week because you already have played them then no problem.
I think a set game time is the best way to organize it. People will miss games for whatever reason but if you just PM your opponent it should be pretty easy to work something out. The hour or so following flames games seems like a good time when people are going to be in the nhl 08 mood
All just suggestions, Ive never played in a video game league and Im getting anxious.

I like the idea of having to play a team x amount of times per week. That might be easiest and you can get your game counts high.

Well i'd be good with scheduled games, just so long as they are somewhat flexible. Maybe if we had it set up for two official games per week, we'd be able to set our game times with the other player.
But I'm new to this, so I don't know how these league games work

league gm should reset the stats. make the 6 sets of matchups and a time to play them, if the time doesn't work for enough people I'm sure it can be worked out

Stats will be reset once we start the season. I'm thinking that we should come out with a time for all the games and if it doesn't work for some people, they can PM their opponent and rearrange it (hopefully within the week) to a time that will work for both of them.
Also, how many games per week should we play and on which days?
I'm thinking 4-5 a week, 3-4 on the weekend and 1-2 on the week day. Maybe 2 games on Saturday night (before or after Flames game, if there aren't any games then schedule it around 8 PM - 10 PM). Games for the week days should be 1 game during 7 PM - 9 PM.
Looking for more opinions about scheduling.

I agree. have 3 games vs 1 team every week, not everyone is going to want to play multiple night a week. Its pretty easy to find an hour or so once a week that works.
The 3 games per week is just a minimum tho, you can always set games up when you notice people are online.
BTW I dont think that NHL 08 leagues have playoffs so if there is interest we should set up a bracket in the thread (assuming the league goes smoothly)

Yea, they don't have playoffs but we'll set it up here and reset the season to best of 7. I'm thinking 8 people qualifies for the playoffs. Anyway, we're getting ahead of ourselves, lets start with running a successful season.
As for the games I think 3 games a week is good, now do we want to do that all on one day or should we split it into 2-3 days?

I think they should be played all at once, 3 games takes not much more than an hour and setting up one matchup is much easier.
Maybe suggest a game time and then if people have conflicts they can just pm their opponent

Played Westicle last night. Scoreless 1st, I went down by a goal in the 2nd and tied it up with 30 secs left in the 3rd. Almost broke his heart but he snagged the shootout win.
Good game.

Alright, so should we start the season soon? I'll send everyone a message on xbox 360 to tell them to come and confirm in this thread. I have to go renew my live, it ran out few days ago.

If you cant find it at EB/gamestop I would just buy it new. Its definitely the most improved NHL game in a long long time

Yeah I thought once you got that final goal you were going to take me out.. The shootout was strange because my second shooter was Erikson.... Luckily I tied the shootout with my last shot... Good game...
This is my confirmation as well!!!
