Geeks rejoice! "Pan's Labyrinth" helmer Guillermo del Toro is reportedly in talks to direct New Line and MGM's two-part adaptation of "The Hobbit."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Del Toro and Jackson would oversee the writing of two scripts once the strike ends. The two-film package would be shot back-to-back starting in 2009, with the trade paper estimating a $150 budget for each projection. The first film would hit theaters in 2010, followed by a second in 2011.

yeah, but the studio execs don't see it that way. All three Spiderman movies are in the Top 15 money makers in US history.

But for the record, I think Darkman ruled.....A hidden gem.

Dont get me started on Spiderman. Spiderman 3 sucked hard and long and something crusty. I could have directed them to be the Top 15 money makers.

I hate Sam Raimi.

Pan's Labyrinth was amazing and I'm glad Guillermo del Toro might direct, he'd do a great job. Plus he already has 'mythical character' experience...

Best Mexican export since my last soft taco.

Lucas is good, just not at scripts and he sort of lost he way a bit plot wise with his prequals. But the script and plot would be done and effects wise none can beat Lucas.
Not actually suggesting it, probably still try and introduce some comedic character that isn't there, but just saying.
