A waist-hip ratio of ~0.7 has been found to be cross-culturally important as a measure of female attractiveness.

Just off the top of my head:
Beyonce Knowles
Nigella Lawson (I'm not alone on this one)
Rachel Ray (Yes, a lot of men find her very attractive.)
Kari Byron
Monica Bellucci
America Ferrera

This whole 'curvy is hot' expression is really an invention of non-hot girls justifying their 'bigger than average' looks. In practice go to any dating website and when a woman calls herself 'curvy', or says something like 'real men like women with curves' you're talking about someone who's carrying what popular taste would call extra pounds (there's nothing wrong with this as many guys like personality features better and some prefer bigger women). It's just that those who are conventionally called attractive wouldn't describe themselves as 'having curves' or being curvy.
In reality everyone's supposed 'line between curvy hot and curvy not' still comes down to being skinny and in shape but of the body-type that isn't rail skinny.

Yup
It's also subjective to how one views themselves.
I remember awhile ago someone suggested I try online dating. Went online, three features I checked for my search was
Fit
Muscular
Thin
OMG - the amount of girls who had checked off "fit" hahaha. It was ridiculous. Made my search redundant. I wondered what I would have returned had I checked normal, or average.
But, that's coming from someone who thinks "fit" means you are on par or close to my level of fitness. Which - almost borders on obsessive.
Take one of my buddies who used to be an athlete, he's probably 20lbs overweight by my standards, considers himself an x-athlete, in shape, but not an athlete anymore. My average person, or what the majority of people that checked themselves as fit, would have been his version of fit.
It's all subjective.
Granted I request a doctors signed BMI for before I take you out! hahaha..
That said, I'm also not into really skinny chicks. They have to have some size. Went out with a Syncro girl once... That wouldn't have gone very far.

I'm a fattist so I tend to prefer skinny "stick" women. So long as they are healthy.
Just to balance the flavor of the thread a little.

Totally agree. Those who call themsevles 'Muscular' are really butch girls in every sense of the word. They're probably stronger than the average girl, played rugby or field hockey in University/High School and that seems to give them permission in their own minds to call themselves 'Muscular.' Whereas I'm sure you were looking for an average size build girl, who's toned to the point of arms starting to resemble guns (But not in the manly sense) with a flat and cut stomach, runners legs, etc, as opposed to a girl with a build resembling an offensive tackle. That's why self-evaluation without pictures describing what it meant by 'muscular', 'thin', and 'fit' is useless.

I call BS. I'm curvy. I'm bigger than average, have a few extra pounds, and I would still conventionally be called attractive. I prefer the term voluptuous, but dating websites don't have such a term, so I'm stuck with curvy. I wear pants that fit and I have a waist. In fact, I'm pretty hot.
So you're saying you'd pass me by because I clicked off curvy? You're missing a lot of good women that way.

He's not talking about women like you. Curvy is attractive. The problem on dating sites is that many women describe themselves as "curvy" because they don't want to use the (more accurate) description of "overweight" or "fat".
So in that context, I can understand how a veteran to a dating site might automatically filter out women who check the "curvy" box because they've been dishonestly tricked into meeting unattractive, overweight people that way.

So what do I click off? Who searches for average women?

same here, i like my girls thin, not "real" or "curvy". that way they are easier to throw down the stairs when they misbehave.
I'm kidding about that last part. it's really more of a gentle push.

I would. It might be considered shallow, but I do think being physically attracted to a girl is important....not as important as the rest, but why look for something that you know you don't really want?

I prefer the woman who works out, but still eats whatever she wants. That would be my description of curvy...large breasts, large ass, but not saggy. Get me after a couple pints though, and I don't bother to look down. At that point it's all hair, eyes and teeth.

I prefer to carry them up the stairs.
They like it too.

Not that I consider myself a veteren to a dating site, but the few handful of times I've tried searching on them (more out of curiosity than anything,) I chose the Average option if it was selectable. But that's only because process of elimination told me that C urvy wasn't actually curvy, mind you.
Yeah, that's pretty much why I've avoided dating sites, come to think of it.

Is that before or after you club them over the head on the way out of the bar?

But you've just admitted to liking stick women, and frankly, I wouldn't be attracted to a shallow man...
I'm talking about men who don't mind women with a few extra pounds who don't click curvy as they're shy from fat women calling themselves curvy.

Ive found quite a few good matches on the "average" setting. Some of the girls who list themselves as this are probably just humble. Girls who call themselves voluptous tend to just be fat girls trying to boost their own ego. Average isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Well then. I suppose I have to rethink my stance on being honest. Isn't that a shame?

How is liking something now considered shallow? Do we all have to be attracted to everyone?
