Province looking at setting minimum prices for drinks to curb violence outside bars

They have that here in Victoria, I dont think it makes me drink less it just makes my wallet a little thinner. Its a stupid idea it has not stopped any violence compared to the cheap days. It doesn't matter how many drinks it is, it could be 2 or 20, as long as there is a room full of guys who all want the same thing (sex) there will be problems.

The only reason my friends get drunk all the time is because of these $1 drinks. Trust me if this wasn't allowed they would probably get drunk FAR LESS. Too people who think alcohol isn't a problem you obviously are confused, being intoxicated gives you the idea that you can do anything you want. Sure it's not going to eliminate it completley but IMO it'll help.

Just like drinking ages discourage teenage drinking? Fact is that if it's too expensive to get drunk in the bars, people can just go get some cheap booze from the liquor store.

I have a hard time believing that higher booze prices will stop people who get violently drunk from drinking but I guess you do have a point that it will curb guys night out to the bars where things have the rare chance of becoming violent.

At the end of the day no matter how much alcohol is consumed at whatever price everyone is responsible for their own actions. The government would better serve the public by being harsher in how it punishes those who cant control themselves or get violent while inebriated. Give someone who starts a fight long prison terms with no time served,good behavior get out of jail early allowances. People cause problems then they should pay the price of their freedom not out be charged more for their drinks.

Well then that's really up to the bars to let in these fools that arrive drunk... there is so many different factors, all I know is my friends get drunk because drinks are cheap!!
