mmmmm...bolero's
I ate for 2.5 hours there with my family.
The best thing though wasn't the meat, it was the grilled pineapple. I must have had almost a whole pineapple myself that night...

I am just shocked that Mother Tuckers is still there. I lived in Calgary from 81 - 87 and we used to really like that place. I'm amazed that it's still there, I would have thought most of the restaurants we liked (besides Caesars) would have changed by now.

Luciano's used to have a really good Sunday Brunch but they pulled the plug on both locations. I wonder if Ronnie Stern had enough looking for affordable staff.

I am sure that is the place they are talking about. We went there last year for New Years and it was terrible. I went there one other time and it was average at best.
It's actually closed down now. Don't know if they moved locations or just shut down completely but the sign says a new company is moving in there.

Bolero is unreal. All you can eat rotisery meat. There's about 14 different kinds and when you give em the green light they come by your table constantly with different skewers and they chop you a piece.
get some mashed potatoes and a little bit of salad, then go hard on the meat.

That's the place. I've only been there twice but everytime I go I can barely move after from all the food. The Terriyaki Steak is just fantastic.

How is that Sumo restaurant at Eau Claire? I was in Calgary last month and it was near my hotel but I wasn't around during their allotted 5-9 time period to take advantage of it.

For indian food, I like Chutney at Sun Life Plaza (now called Royal India) or the Clay Oven in the NE

I lost my job because of that.
The Regency Palace is pretty decent for Chinese buffet and the price wasn't too bad last time I was there.

Was at Tucker's this week. They have a good carvery, a big salad bar, and a bunch of other hot food. It's basically your standard "comfort food".
Singapore Sam's on 11th ave has a good chinese buffet.
(edit: I see James posted about these already. James, sounds like we're in the same area. My office is right above Sam's.)
For Sunday brunch try The teahouse at COP, good view from up there.
A tip for those visiting Glory of India, if you can't do more than one plate then get a take away box. It's a few bucks less and the box is big enough for most people to get enough to sleep the afternoon. I think it is 9.50 or something like that.

for the price it was one of my favourite restaurants in the city. The only restaurant where i walked out twice because of the ty service yet still kept on coming back, most restaurants don't get any strikes before they never see me again.

I'm not that close. I'm in the Husky building. So, it is a slight walk for me. I don't think it would be healthy for me to work that close to there as you are.

I like the place. The very first time I ate sushi was there.
My buddy and I dragged are selves in there after a bender one sunday morning. We met 'Peter the Japanese' who I think is the owner. He was great. He called us 'animals' and told my buddy :"you are smarter than you look" when he ordered unage(SP you know, the eel). We finished off 20+ plates,3-4 beers each and had our server,Saory hand feed us a peeled grape at the end!! Thinking back, one of the biggest regrets of that year was not proposing to Saory.
I've since eaten there (unhungover) and it still is good sushi.

Mr Kinjo has his own place now. It's the old Timmy's beside Futureshop. Great place for sushi imo.

Mr. Simpson, this is the most blatant case of fraudulent advertising since my suit against the film, "The Never-Ending Story" ... Homer, I don't use the word "hero" very often, but you are the greatest hero in American history.

For buffet, there's Yangtze at Deerfoot mall. It's ok compared to other chinese buffets. They have crab legs, prime rib and sushi at night. Prices are, if I am not mistaken, below $20 (17 or 18.99). Sushi BBQ Inn is also a good place.
