Well, that's wierd, 3 sweeps and a possibility of 4. I don't think I've ever heard of that happening before.

yeah so many great races down the stretch and imo there will not be one series that goes past the minimum 3 games.

Top of the 3rd and the Tribe have chased Clemens and lead the Yanks 3-0.

Yeah this is crazy how we've seen 3 sweeps already. I was pretty sure that the Angels would get swept but I thought Rockies/Philles would go atleast 4 and Cubs/Dbacks would go 5. I see a Red Sox/DBacks world series happening.

The first hour of the game was not shown on Sportsnet HD for some reason.

do they not show the games on tbs and tnt in canada? i'm a long-time (no longer suffering) red sox fan, but it is BRUTAL to watch the games on tbs b/c of the announcers. so if you are getting sportsnet without the tbs feed -- count yourself very lucky.
with the exception of last nights yank game, this has been a strange race. i'm not sure if all the drama in the NL leading up to playoffs or all these sweeps indicates a really boring world series matchup or a really eventful one. i just hope the sox can continue.

We get the TBS broadcasts up here (basically just aired on SportsNET), although Fox is supposed to take over for the next round. Joe Buck is a pretty good PBP guy, and I imagine that Tim McCarver will do color with him in the ALCS. Maybe the LCS series will be a bit better than the division series were. I would think that whoever wins the AL should be able to dismantle either the D-Backs or the Rockies. But you never know with a team like the Rockies and the roll they're currently on.

I see. We have the same thing with local sports only stations (like YES, MSG or NESN) that will be shown on MLB game package stations, but TBS, TNT, FOX and ESPN have never feed on another station. So I thought maybe you had another crew. I was surprised at some of the comments Tony Gwynn was making and I normally find him to be fairly entertaining and knowledgable. My husband (ex baseball player) was having a total meltdown at some of the boneheaded comments made. I had to go watch in the other room b/c he was making me crazy. i'm a huge fan of bob costas. i really like listening to him broadcasting games. I guess I'm spoiled though with Jerry Remy & Don Orsillo. i actually glad (scary as that is) that fox gets the next round over tbs/tnt.

I used to like the group that NBC had with Bob Costas, Bob Ueker, and Joe Morgan back in the late 90's. I always found that to be a good group as Ueker can be pretty funny when among the right group.

oh man, you aren't kidding!!! uecker was great to listen to. i remember it was sometime either in the late 80's or early 90's world series that started pairing those two together. i can't remember the exact details of what was going on, but uecker made some off the wall observation and had costas in stitches. he was trying soooo hard to keep straight faced and on target but ueck would go off on these tangents and costas would be trying to stiffle his laughter. so there would be this dead air as costas tried to compose himself. then you watch a movie with ueck like "major league" and wonder how much was him just ad-libbing and how much was actually scripted.

The Cleveland Indians have knocked out the Yanks. Joe Torre will probably be unemployed in the next couple of days. Let the rumors of LaRussa to the Yanks begin or Girardi.

Yet another playoff choke by A-Rod. Will he opt for free agency, and does anyone want to pay him 30 million to be all world in the regular season, but fall off the fact of the Earth in the playoffs? But lets fact it...in Baseball more than any other sport you need to have a good regular season to make the playoffs.
Hopefully the Cleveland and Colorado World Series happens. I think it would be a fun series to watch. Either way if Cleveland wins than it will be teams who have built from within who sort of deserve to have some success.

I believe that teams that built from within have won the World Series all along. Even when the Yankees won from 1996 to 2000 they built from within. It's when they started buying players and foolishly spending money after 2001 that they've failed. Other than the 1997 Marlins and maybe the 2001 Diamondbacks I think every World Series winner was well-built from within the system (2002 Angels, 2003 Marlins, 2004 Red Sox, 2005 White Sox and 2006 Cardinals)

I wouldn't say the Red Sox of 04 were built from within...They had acquired core guys like Schilling, Martinez, Ramirez, and Johnny Damon either via lopsided trade or free agency. Even Keith Foulke who closed for them that year was an acquisision they could make due to their spending. Ortiz was also a bit of a reclaim project after he became too expensive for the Twins as an average type DH. They were more a mix of guys they had and key veterans that they had spent big money to get.
In baseball you'll never have teams that are 100% built from within win as free agency is a big part of the game. But teams like the Red Sox do get a shot at the good free agents and moreso get to trade for better players because they can afford to pay them.

it was too bad the devil rays didn't acquire pitching a couple of years ago. they had a really good group of core guys...young guys. but they traded trading them away.
as far as the sox -- theo wanted that world series win. he did what it took to get there. the money certainly didn't hurt.
