I see. I haven't watched the Simpsons for quite some time, so I must have missed it.
Here I was thinking it was some kind of radical "social commentary" from Photon, when in reality he swiped it from a cartoon. Talk about disappointment.....

Well, it's a little deeper than that. First off, it's from the first handful of Simpsons seasons.
But in the scene, the actor McBain is asking what the scene is, and they explain that a bunch of nuclear waste is about to hit him. He asks what they are using to simulate the nuclear waste, and they say it was just cheaper to use real nuclear waste. He asks about some sort of radiation suit, and the director tells him to just put on the safety goggles. At that point a huge wall of nuclear waste comes rushing in, McBain puts on the googles and exclaims: "My eyes, they burn! The goggles do nothing!"
And I'm sure you've seen some of what us mods have to deal with here; and that's where the nuclear waste metaphore come in.

Exactly, nuclear power is good and the Simpsons episode was clearly designed to make people feel less intimidated with nuclear waste by using humour. Nuclear waste is funny, not dangerous!

Back in 2004, I wanted a name change so I signed up with a new one. It's actually pretty easy.
It kind of sucked losing my 2001 sign-up date status, but Scotty was nice enough to at least carry over my post counts. I was a little choked though, when a slough of people after that had name changes and were able to carry over their start-year information too... but oh well

My old user name was "Boogie Man" (because I was a Boughner fan back then. Back on FOI, I posted as "squid").
I'm not sure why Scotty didn't want to change my information like he did for a few people (THunter being one of them). I ened up just signing up with a new name.

Yeah, nowadays we don't like people to sign up with new names either.. if we find it we'll usually remove the new account.

I remember that, someone called you out for having like 100 posts a day or something. I fixed it for you.

I started in spring of 2004 under a different name. When they changed forum software that summer they offered for a limited time for anybody to change their names. I jumped on that opportunity to use this name, which I used on a different forum.
I later tried to change it again, which they declined because my reason wasn't good enough, and I'm fine with that.

Personally, I think mods should give out titles instead of blue squares. Not sure who it was, but I laughed at one that was tossed on a banned poster that said "took ball, went home". Nothing like a little public humiliation to make you feel like a tool.
I for one would completely support the idea of un-banning Sundeep and Jim Shergill, and give them fancy titles to stare at whenever they post something hilarious (which wouldn't take long at all).
