For the event to be worthwhile, I imagine those numbers would have to be the case. And with that being the case, my interest in attending would be small. I sat in Row 2 for the Raiders home opener for $100US. Paying more than that for the upper deck a mile away from the field (yeah, the track and the size of the CFL field is a factor) just doesn't make sense for me. Actually, I think being at home listening to what the American announcers have to say about the spectacle would be interesting enough anyway!

Add to that the fact that a Raider game meant a weekend in San Francisco, which beats a weekend in Edmonton 100 times out of 100. Although a weekend in Oakland probably only beats a weekend in Edmonton 90 times out of 100.

Sorry, Souray, but you're just going to have accept the fact that we will occasionally make disparaging remarks about your city and its venues!

That was also for a Raiders game! I know I wouldn't be too excited if it was going to be a Cardinals vs. Browns game and might balk at a high ticket price. But if it was in fact a Pats and Bronco's game....I'd pay the money to see teams like those two.

Easy now, I was there to see the Lions... I got MY money's worth, although lucky to escape the stadium alive... they don't take too kindly to opposing fans. Surprising, eh? Anyway, seeing all the cartoon characters from the Black Hole was worth the price of admission alone. You won't get that in the 'chuk!

Definitely a Broncos-Patriots game is a marquee matchup which increases the attractiveness of attending such a game. I'm not saying there wouldn't be tremendous interest in this event in the prairie provinces, but even as a big NFL fan, I will probably continue with my yearly pilgrimmage to southerly destinations to watch a game rather than go to Edmonton for this one.

Why not? Matt Leinart, Anquan Boldin, Larry Fitzgerald, Edgerrin James, Antrel Rolle and an up-and-coming Cardinals team vs. (by then)Brady Quinn, Kellen Winslow, Braylon Edwards...whats not to like? I agree theres better matchups than that, but I'd still love to see that game. Then again I could probably justify a reason to want to see any NFL team...

I don't think there'd be too many "NFL fans" coming from Winnipeg. A 13 hour drive to Edmonton or a 7 hour drive to Minneapolis- I think most people would take the trip south. If there were fans of either team; maybe.

But I do agree with you that between Calgary, Edmonton, and Saskatoon you could find enough to fill the stadium for a premium price.

Not to mention, if Bryn is correct and upper bowl seats are $120-150 (and keep in mind this is Commonwealth Stadium where you're miles away from what would be an NFL field) that's ridiculous. You can get upper bowl seats in Minneapolis for $15 and lower bowl for $80 at the low end.

Also, I remember someone saying earlier in this thread that Commonwealth Stadium is a "nice facility". Don't confuse "big" with "nice".

That said, I can see why the NFL and its teams would want to take part in this. Having one game in an area that rarely sees NFL football shoots the demand way up and results in $$$ for the league and its clubs.
