Anyone else been sitting at their computer for about 3 hours trying to get started on the dread term papers? I got a poli one due monday and I have maybe 2 pages of notes.

HOW does one get motivated?
Which Poli Sci course are you in?

I currently have 10 and 15 page essays (double spaced) due on tuesday and am currently 2 and a quarter pages into the first one. I also take forever to start my essays and have found that since about grade 12 finals, the peak of my studying & non-procrastination, I have been on a steady decline of studying and not procrastinating. Not good, that's for sure.

Anyways, I find that once I get started on a paper it flows alot easier and I start moving through it faster. Though I have absolutely 0 plans or previous notes taken for these 2 particular essays, I sorta think of something that has to do with the topic at hand and react accordingly. If I think a quote is good, ill go find one and use it, etc, etc. Also, I am pretty lazy and only use electronic full text sources as opposed to actually venturing into the library at school. I like to think of it as narrowing down my sources (heh), so I basically never run into the problem you have of ending up with so much information that you are overwhelemd.

I tend to do alright on papers, moreso on Poli Sci ones because they focus more on content than structure (cursed English papers). So I hope this sort of helps you out a bit...

Whoa!!! Other Poli Sci students actually exist??? Haha, what are your majors in Poli Sci? I'm just going the general Poli Sci degree, writing my LSATs, and applying for Law School route. . . . no guarantees that will actually work out though so my future is highly in doubt.

I have a Poli 363 paper on Western Europe due on Wednesday... 15 pages to go... And I hear my Prof is quite tough on these things. Planning on a visit to the library tomorrow. Then more papers due the next week.

But somehow I'm not afraid at all...since last year I somehow pulled off writing a 35-page paper for Poli 381 in 10 hours and got an A...I actually went to the library for research at 9PM, the night that it was due!!! Of course, many neccessary books were already signed out by others...so what did I do? Steal from the net and fib! I didn't have a thesis until midnight! I looked up the prof's area of speciality - which is a horrible gamble because they'll know what you're talking about, but it can payoff if they like your paper...and with Poli Sci, you can always fib as long as you back it up with true facts. Then I just typed non-stop like a madman until 10AM and sped to school. I don't know how I pulled it off.

That my friends, is the true miracle on ice...

A 35-page paper for POLI381? HAHAHAHHA boy did you get boned. Congrats on the A, but wow, thats' far too much for a 300-level course. I'm surprised your prof actually let you write something that long. I did a paper in the class that was only 12 pages, and still managed a B+. Who is your prof? Keely? Baron?

And for what it's worth, I'm doing a BComm in Haskayne concurrently with my Poli Sci degree. I have no hope for my B.A., so I'm going the safe route and getting something that's actually worth something when I'm done. I say this because I don't have any interest in going into Law or something like that afterwards.

Sweet, it took me like 12 hours to do 2 pages and now it's time for sleep!

Only 8 more to go!

Nice to see such a large contingent of us suffering through all these papers...

I have 5 due by Dec 2, one due Wednesday, and another Thursday.

I finished that 12-15 pager for Poli 363, now I got Poli 401, ROST 299, CNST 201 and Poli 439 to do... life is good...

I'm currently getting a 20 pager done, it's not due until December, but with all the stuff I have to do between now and then, now's the only time I really have to get it done (it's due on the day of the exam, which is the 3rd in 3 days for me)

I'm currently on page 1

For some reason, my elective this semester is Pre-Confederation Canadian History. Most boring class ever. And I have to do my term paper on "The Role of the Hudson's Bay Company in the Settling of Fort Langley".

Oh joy.
