***BUMP***

Well tomorrow is the big day, I'm feeling fairly confident, hopefully it will translate into results.

Good luck to everyone who is writing tomorrow. I know that the second I'm out of there I'll be hitting the nearest bar for a nice cold beer. From there I'll be getting completely s*&t-faced, feel free to join.

Yeah I thought it was pretty tough.

The morning wasn't so bad, I remember thinking to myself "OK so as long as the afternoon isn't harder than the morning I should be alright" than the afternoon came and it was hard as balls.

With a few good guesses I might be alright.

What about you? How did it compare to the June session?

I found I was more prepared for this exam than for the June exam, with the combination of knowing what to expect and going through all of the Schweser material.

I thought the morning session was pretty straight forward, there were maybe two questions that I found were a bit iffy, but overall I didn't find it that bad, same for the afternoon exam.

I would say the June exam was very similar to the December exam as far as content goes. Maybe a bit more qualitative than quantitative in December.

The marks should be out near the end of January if it follows the same time line as in June.

I'm cautiously optimistic about my result for the exam, even though that just means another five months of being a hermit.

Glad to hear you're feeling good.

I found the Ethics to be frigging tricky, when I was doing practice exams Ethics was money in the bank. I would consistently get 15+ right but both sections where much, much more difficult than what I used to seeing.

If I don't pass I'll write again in June, I feel like with another go round I should be able to pass for sure.

The ethics can be really tricky, and the only way to really get them dialed in is to just do as many practice questions as possible. Did you use any prep materials? Or did you go straight out of the CFA course books?

Glad to hear you are going to give it another shot if you don't pass, it is a really difficult exam, and there is no shame in giving it another go. The real shame would be to waste all of that time and effort and then give up on it.

Hey guys, Im in my third year of a finance degree and I am wondering what kind of jobs I could be looking at after I graduate. The reason I ask is because almost every summer job available is for an investment bank position and I am unsure if I want to go that route. On that note, what are the hours like for someone working an investment bank job in Calgary? Also, for any none investment banking job what are the hours like? Thanks.

Everything you need to know about investment banking and some other areas of finance is here:

I'm in my final semester of my 4th year of my finance degree currently trying to network my way into an analyst position.

I work in commercial banking, came out of school with a b. Management from U of L. Typical hours are mon-fri 830-430 or 5. I started with 4 weeks vacation.

It depends on the area you want to focus. If you do deals in real estate or mid market...expect to be an analysit for 2-3 years. Smaller company managers are more hands on early.

Cant speak for investment bankers but i have some friends that worked that role for 10-12 hour days.
