The landing strip in Courchevel, France is so short that you have to land on an inclined strip to slow down and take off on a decline to pick up enough speed. Who even needs to ski after a landing like that?

The weather in Europe was really bad this weekend(I know I was using Flight Simulator X and flying in the weather, made for fun landings) and a Lufthansa A320 almost crashed on landing in a nasty crosswind in Hamburg.

Why?? He had it under control until the gust right before they touched down. You can't predict gusts like that.

To me it appears to be marginally close to the crosswind limit.

Looks to me like the plane is coming in at a 20 degree angle through the entire approach.

yep, thats not exactly uncommon either though. The luftansa spokesperson says they practice such landings weekly. Further more planes both before and after landed in similar conditions.

I've stood on that exact spot watching jumbos take off and land in St. Maarten. It is pretty intense. There is a great bar right behind the videographer to drink at and watch them land.
