Beautiful article... at least that Sun staffer can see the pecking order that exists in this province, and doesn't try and dispute that it exists.

I particularly liked this whine:
"Hey, wait a minute, we're a whole lot closer to the oilsands than Cowtown, er, Calgary. How is it Edmonton didn't get this kind of prominent coverage in the USA Today money/business section"

Because the big boys calling the shots sit here....

Got to love it when your Economic Development Spokesman says:

"There is a perception out there that Edmonton is a second-tier city," admitted Rudolph. "But Rome wasn't built in a day."

If they think a crappy CART (and I used to be a diehard CART fan) in it's new 2nd tier to IRL capacity is going to bring widespread international attention on Edmonton, they really need to learn a bit about open wheel racing. I'm not even sure it pulls in ratings as dismal as the NHL's. Their ratings were so bad I beleive they had to PAY CBS to broadcast their races. Coverage in US and Canadian papers (unless the race is in Canada) is usually limited to a 4 sentence blurb on page D6.

Yep, I'm sure it takes highly educated people to work at a Dell help centre. Well, maybe to edmonton standards they are.

In fact, I recall Lethbridge getting a huge help centre, more than 500 not too long again. I guess people in Lethbridge are highly educated, more so than Edmonton.

Well, Lethbridge is one of the highest educated towns/small cities in Canada. That's what happens when you have a city of 80,000 with both a university and scientific research center. Of course, most young educated people from Lethbridge move to Calgary.

If you look at the education stats for Calgary vs. Edmonton, it is not even close in any category.

Calgary: http://www12.statcan.ca/english/Profil01/D...%20Area&ID=1095

Ooooh Help desk!

What a choice. Talk to a tech from India, or talk to a tech from Edmonton.

No offense to the Edmonton Sun, but you dont need to be highly educated to be a script monkey. You could pull 500 hobos off the street of any city and train them to do first level support.

If Calgary only had a large body of water it would make this the best city in Canada ahead of Toronto and Vancouver by a big red country mile. Could we flood out the SE and turn it into a great lake?

I don't think anyone would miss Forest lawn or Dover.. unless if you are the Ward 10 alderman. hehehehhee

You know, if you didn't have the bad jokes and the weird laughter at the end of each post you would be alright.

whats wrong with my hehehe's??? they make me special! hehe

However i will admit that some of my jokes are pretty bad. Hey it's Calgary Puck and not Last Comic Standing. I am the Ray Romano of CP. Not very funny but I try hard. hehe

And for anyone who has visited Houston or have lived there for more than a month, Calgary is WAY better than Houston!

"Fish Creek Park was planted?? I did not know that... beauty about living in the deep SW is that we have Fish Creek and Weaselhead not too far away. " The trees in west Fish Creek are all natural, we in this area between Fish Creek and South Glenmore park live in a zone that is classified as parkland, look at the Sarcee Indian reserve, all those trees on the reserve are natural and the area between Fish Creek and South Glenmore is the same, we are the closest part of the city to the mountains in actual distance, the rest of the city is classified as grassland and yes, all the trees in NE, NW and SE(save the river periphary)are not natural and are planted...

sorry, should have made that more clear.....now that i look back at it it makes it seem like fish creek was fake as well, which is not true at all. What I meant was was all the neighborhoods like Killarney or Mount Royal, which have a very woodsy feel are the ones that had the trees planted.
