1. Ozzfest 2002 or 2003, Ozzy, Marilyn Manson, Slipknot, Linkin Park, Papa Roach, and Disturbed all on the main stage with like 5 minute set changes, AWESOME!!!!!

2. Korn in 2000 at GM Place, I won passes to this show and I got to be on stage with them. Very good energy.

3. Summer Sanitarium 2004....Metallica, Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Deftones, Mudvayne

4. Linkin Park at the Pacific Coliseum 2004, full length set, the opening was awesome, there was a big curtain blocking the stage and all you could see was a silouhette of Chester walking, getting bigger and bigger, then the curtain came down and they went into "With You"

5. Green Day 2005, Pac Coliseum, awesome show, cover of "we are the champions" was a lot of fun.

Not necessarily the best, but few of the most memorable shows I've seen:

Alice Cooper - Edmonton 1975. AC cut the show short due to cracked ribs. He'd fell off the stage in Vancouver a few nights earlier.
The Who - Edmonton 1976. I think tickets were like $8.00
Kiss/Cheap Trick - Edmonton 1977. Not much talent but great theatrics.
Rod Stewart - Corral 1978? Just before Rod went disco.
The Eagles - McMahon Stadium 1978.
Supertramp - McMahon Stadium 1979.
David Bowie/Peter Gabriel/The Tubes - Edmonton 1982. Gabriel was the highlight.
Eric Clapton/Mark Knopfler - Saddledome 1988?
Rolling Stones - Vancouver 1994. The old guys still rock.

Honorable mentions - stuff in clubs:
Colin James - The Old Scotch. Seems he was always there in the early 80's.
Doug & the Slugs - numerous caberets. Highlighting the new technology of cordless microphones, Doug Bennett disappears into the washroom and bellows "can you hear me now?"
Jeff Healy - King Eddy. I went after reading an interview with Stevie Ray Vaughn where he raved about this up and coming guitarist who was blind.

I still deeply regret passing on an opportunity to see Pink Floyd's "The Wall" tour in Los Angeles in 1980. Doh!

Have not seen a tonne of concerts in my life, but there have been some memorable ones...

1. AC/DC - Thunderstuck Tour in Seattle - The US had just invaded Iraq in '91 and the crowd was off the rails - on the way down, there were reports of snipers on overpasses and all sorts of craziness.
2. Pink Floyd - Division Bell - Went with my aunt and uncle and their seats sucked, luckily for me I had met some nice looking girls in line and they invited me to their seats much lower in the bowl - good evening, no sleep, long ride home to Northern BC.
3. Tragically Hip (cannot recall which tour, but I am thinking Trouble at the Henhouse) - Rember sitting in the van before the concert with my buddy and his hot sister-law drinking Crown and Cokes before and we realized the concert was about to start. We had floor seats and as we entered the coliseum, Gift Shop was kicking off and it felt otherworldy as we headed into the craziness.
4. Black Crowes - Orpheum in the mid-90s - despite no encore set (jerks) the opening band was BR549 who I had seen live and up close at Roberts Boot Shop in Nashville a year ealier.

I was at last years Bridge Show. 20th anniversary of the BSB.

The Shoreline Ampitheatre in Mountainview, CA, is an incredible venue and the weather was outstanding. 10 hours of music featuring acoustic sets from:

Neil (who is still amazing)
Pearl Jam
Foo Fighters
Trent Reznor
Brian Wilson (yes, he is crazy)
Dave Matthews
Deathcab for Cutie

Neil has a lot of good friends.....

I really only like seeing bands in small halls:

Mac Hall: Ween (over 3 hour show), Pixies, New Pornographers (2X), James Brown

Bowness Community Hall, Foothills Stadium, EDM Convention Ctr: Los Lobos

Some SW Community Hall in the 1980s: Teenage Head

Max Bell Arena: George Thorogood (2X)

Commodore Ball Room (VAN): Sugar (2X), Waterboys

that place [?] in Gastown (VAN): Rheostatics

small outdoor football stadium (SEA): Screaming Trees and Soundgarden

Some memorable shows that I've seen:

1. Lollapalooza, Molson Park, Barrie ON - I think the 4th year? bands included L7, Breeders, George Clinton, Nick Cave (he was awesome), Beastie Boys and Smashing Pumpkins. Left during SP's set (they were last, and were kind of boring). Interesting note: The Verve were playing at a side stage.

2. Pogues, Concert Hall, Toronto ON - On the If I Should Fall From Grace With God tour. When the band started playing IISFFGWG, you had to fight to stay on your feet. Shane was still somewhat lucid. Streams of Whiskey was the highlight of the show for me. I saw them 2 other times - the next tour (Shane was a real wreck at that one) and later with Spider Stacy singing. The last show was on St. Patrick's Day, but still a letdown.

3. New Model Army, Trasheteria, Guelph ON - Purity tour, around 1990. Great band playing in a great venue.

4. Chad VanGaalen/Constantines/Weakerthans, Mount Royal College, Calgary, AB - Rolling Tundra tour. The Weakerthans were really good, but the highlight of the show was the Constantines. They put on a great show, and I've never been disappointed when I've seen them. Plus, Chad VanG is entertaining.

5. Yo La Tengo, Embassy Hotel, London, ON - Probably saw them about 1997 or so. Small venue, and they impressed me off the bat when they asked for requests. Also a good night, as I ran into a friend there who I wasn't expecting to see, and had a blast.

Honourable mention: 1st Vans Warped Tour, Henry Rollins spoken word, Beastie Boys (Ill Communication Tour), Tegan and Sara (Metric was the opening act), Wilco (Yankee Hotel Foxtrot Tour), Billy Bragg (any time I've seen him), The Smiths (Queen is Dead Tour)

Biggest disappointment:

Without a doubt, I would have to say The Pixies. I saw them on the Trompe Le Monde tour at the Concert Hall in Toronto (I met one of the Kids in The Hall at the concert). They didn't really seem too into the show, and the sound was terrible. At one point, they started into Velouria, and there was a screech of feedback. Black Francis threw down his guitar and marched offstage. The rest of the band looked at each other and then left also. After about 15 minutes, they came back and continued. Played what seemed like an abbreviated set (they never did play Velouria) and had one small encore. Great band, lousy concert.

I saw the Tragically Hip at the Moore Theatre (an old movie theatre in DT Seattle) in 1996. The theatre held approx. 2000 people, and most were Cdns that had driven down from Vancouver. I will never forget, right before Gordie and the band were about to take the stage - everybody stood up (well the Canucks at least) and sang 'O Canada' completely unprompted and without hesitation. The couple of hundred Americans in the crowd were dumbfounded... The Hip played a 3 hr. show that night and left on their TITHH tour shortly thereafter. Best show ever...

I cannot believe I forgot the Stone Temple Pilots concert I went to in Vancouver when their first album came out - it was in an outdoor concert bowl and I came down from Kamloops with this chick my buddy new. It was a fun, spontaneous little road trip. We drank a lot, did the concert (middle of the day, steaming hot) and slept down at the beach.

Easy ... the Festival Express at McMahon Stadium in 1970. The line-up included Janis Joplin, The Band, Ian & Sylvia, Buddy Guy, The Grateful Dead, Ten Years After (my favourite), Tom Rush, Mashmakhan, The Flying Burritos, Eric Anderson and more. This was Calgary's Woodstock.

Honourable mention to Stan Rogers, playing in the rain at the first Calgary folk fest, Clapton and Knopfler at the dome in 1987 and Fred Eaglesmith at the Last Chance Saloon in Wayne.
