Wow. That was awesome.

I spent about an hour going to anf from various windows in my house, and on the front porch, just observing. I felt like a little kid.

We've got leaks, too. Rained really hard for a good hour (usually hard rain like that only lasts a few minutes, or comes and goes).

Looks like we got a couple little cells headed this way. I cant imagine it will turn into anything though, not enough energy left.

I love being inside on a rainy day. It's awesome to see the huge flash of lightning and knowing that a giant bomb of a thunderclap will be coming in a few seconds after the sound catches up with the light.

If you count the seconds, you can estimate how far away the lightning was if you know the speed of sound.

I think everybody in Calgary heard that one huge thunderclap. I was playing the Thunderstruck intro on my guitar at the moment too

Thanks for the advice. I went out to sit in my car...could see the storm better that way. Also the gf would kill me if she saw me smoking in the house and the fan in our hood doesn't vent properly right now...

I have some more, but I need to keep looking at them. On the double shot, i had a lot of rain on the lens, and tried in 2 mins to clean that up a bit, Ill do it again when I have some more time. Just looking to see if I have more.

Yeah, we had some nasty stuff up here in the Edmonton area too. The lower parts of St.Albert had some flash type flooding. I was home working and the wind totally switched direction in a matter of minutes I had to close the back windows, to the side windows, to the front windows. Pretty good dump of water though.

I had football practice.

Obviosuly called off during it.

And getting home was not an easy trip either. So many streets under water and drain over flowed.

A friend of mine reported just now there's a house in flames in Tuscany. Lightning hit?

Well we lost the dig cable and net (shaw) DT here for around 90 minutes, just got it back up in time for Letterman--whew, lotsa water heading for the river. I swear that lightning hit the pole or the mailbox outside the kirby center or maybe it just toasted a senior--I'll look for the burn marks tomorrow...

At the height of that storm I couldnt even see the building across the parking lot. And yet, the worst that happened to my apartment was the power flickered once. Didn't lose cable, didn't lose internet, just got to watch a massive deluge, and listen to the sirens run up and down Glenmore non stop.

Apparently 14th street is flooded out near 16th Ave. Elbow Drive into downtown was turned into a giant wading pool a bunch of kids were in, and I would venture to guess, based on the number of sirens, that significant parts of Elbow, MacLeod, Glenmore, 14th and Heritage were all screwed up compeltely by this mess.

And to think... three more week of this, and we would duplicate 2005.

I forgot to mention that during my little adventure out of down town tonight the worst part was that I really REALLY had to pee.

Stuck in the car, all that water coming down around me.

Needless to say getting home was a priority.
