Well Calgary is a given, but for the other places, each was a favourite for one reason or another.
Kingston, ON: for the partying
East Sussex, UK: for the incredible bucolic setting
Cape Town: for the incredible urban setting
Sydney: for the incredible city life

Personally, I loved Montreal. It is a really diverse city where people love to have fun and get out. I never lived in a city where there was so much to do...particularly in the summer when there is festival after festival. The winters are kinda nasty and long though.

I'd have to say where I live right now..San Jose, CA. It's only 45 mins from San Francisco, there is beautiful weather, sooo much to do in terms of sports (A's, Sharks, Giants, Niners, and Raiders all within 45 mins away), shopping, outdoor festivals in the summer, beaches, gambling (Reno is close and Vegas isn't too far either), skiing (Tahoe), etc....and the SUNSHINE!

I did a trip to Amsterdam and through Germany a while back as well, but it was only a couple of weeks.
By far the best place that I have been to is Buenos Aires, Argentina. I was there just after their market had crashed and everything was super cheap. It was third world prices for first class goods and services. That city has it all, ridiculously beautiful women, temperate climate (super hot when I was there), an extremely laid-back atmosphere (city-wide siestas!), unbelievable partying, and the most amazing sounding spanish. I can't wait to go back.

Yowza. That's a pretty loaded statement! I know people from the lower mainland who would freak out about that generalization. As someone who's lived around there for a few years, Vancouver proper (ie. West Van, West End, downtown area) is worlds apart from Burnaby and even more different than Richmond. As I've said before, I think Vancouver is one of the most beautiful/appealing places in the world to live........as for Burnaby/Richmond/Surrey......
