C'mon I can be included can't I ????
I mean a true Calgarian is one who was born and raised here and then saw what the world had to offer and still moved back.
Me.
Born here, lived 18 years
1 year in France
3 years Vancouver
5 years various BC addresses including a degree from UVIC.
Moved back to Calgary for the past decade now and not looking to see what else the world has to offer because it is right here.
... But how do we know if we are really Calgarians unless we leave?
It takes a real Calgarian to live in the Cote D'Azure and still say Calgary is where it's at!

Pretty much born and raised in Calgary. Will be 27 years this August. From what my parents tell me, I lived in Airdre when I was 1 or 2 years old for a couple months or so.

Lived in Rundle, Castleridge, Riverbend, Lower Mount Royal, Coral Springs and now have a place to call my own in Falconridge.

I'm with you on that. Born and raised, approaching 44 years, with the exception of when I lost my mind and moved to Lethbridge for 10 years. Been back 11 and it's like I never left. At least I'd prefer to think I never left. The only reminder I have of those 10 years is my kids.

Born and raised here for 20 years. I was born at the Holy Cross and spent the first three years of my life in Millarville on an acreage. Other than that I've lived in about a dozen different places around the city and have only left to spend 6 months on Vancouver Island when I was about 5 years old.

So true. I don't care where anybody is from. You need to live outside of your home town, your home province, even your home country to truly get an appreciation for your home town.
I'm not a lifelong Calgarian. I was the 5th generation born here. And, ha ha, my mother was from Saskatchewan. I may not have lived in the city my whole life. But my roots and history run deep in this city. Not many Calgarians, or even life long Calgarians can go to Union Cemetary and visit the graves of their Great Great Grandfather, their Great Grandfather, and their Grandfather.

Born and raised in Calgary. I went to the U of A but I came back home at least once a month. Lived at home again for a couple years, now I am overseas again for school. I came home for Christmas.. but now I won't be home until August, it will be the longest I have every been away from Calgary. I miss it a lot. Once I am done here in about 15 months I will be back there to live.

Yes, I would suspect this latest influx is like it was around 1970 when I moved here from Saskatchewan. My children are 31 and 28, native Calgarians, both born at the Holy Cross hospital.
So I suppose it is like anything else, there is a 20 to 30 year cycle when the old becomes new again.
