Not always the case.
Signed, white guy married to a Japanese gal. Most of my friends here in the same situation didn't seem to get too much fuss. (In Japan, I think the cut off is country of origin rather than race - an Iranian friend of mine who owns his own restaurant had a hell of a time with his inlaws, but that's the only story I've heard of).
My theory - potential murderers post at on the official forum. This one contains none of that riff-raff .

Me and my brother knew a murderer. I'm sure most of you heard about Vuthy Kong back in February of 2005. We grew up with this kid, and he was one of our best friends. This was back in the early to mid 90's. We both moved out of the area, and lost contact. Feb 2005 rolls around and we see this on TV, joking if it could be our long lost friend, a picture came up and bang, what a shock, it was him.

Agreed this happens about a million times in mixed relationships.
Maybe she felt uncomfortable in vietnam or his parents didnt welcome her the way she felt they should have. She's an 18 year old, they change their minds everyday.
I talked about this at the dinner table and my dad said the guy should have just gone back to vietnam again and picked up the 10000000000 18 year old hotties that are there instead of doing THIS!

From my experience, Asian parents that fit your description have their own pecking order. A pretty white blonde girl like her wouldn't have made them as upset as say, a black girl. She's probably #2 on the list of ideals for his parents. Modern media has seen to that.
My guess? I'm actually going to say the opposite of the above. She went back with him to Vietnam, his family totally accepted her, and he totally saw a future with her. However, being 18, she decides that he's not the guy for her and breaks it off - he's crushed, especially after introducing her to all his family. Then she posts on facebook how wonderful this new guy is and he loses it, and commits the crime.

I think that's probably the main reason, due to lack of culture understanding and appreciation for each other... This kinda thing is really hard to fix unless one side start to take steps toward understanding the culture of another....
easier said to be done.
(oh yeh, i am asian too)

I would have to agree with this statement more than any other mainly because I've seen a lot of that happen. Their cultural understanding, or lack of it, can cause so many things to happen... those who are intrigued by other culture definitely has no problem, but those who are not don't usually end up quite well.

Well, I'm only speaking from experience after dating a couple Japanese girls (In Canada). I sure that some of them are quite open to other cultures, not all, but soeme.

"If someone had told me a few months ago that I would be this happy now, I would have laughed at them! I had such an awesome night. . . better than awesome, it was amazing! I got so used to waiting and wishing for that "perfect" something that when it was finally sitting right in front of me tonight... I was almost shocked!"
Pretty sad once you realize the context...
