You have to be joking me with that gas mileage man... I drove ALOT in the summer (summer job) and I drove a 2006 Corolla only had to fill it up twice a week, and each fill up was 40 dollars. Compare that to the Accord i'd drive once in a while, 80 dollars a fill up and I'd have to fill it up 3 times a week. That being said, the Accord was much more fun to drive. How ever, I have driven the Camry and they are about equivalent cars. I'm not a real big fan of the Corolla or the Civic, but between the two, Corolla. I hate the electronic speedometer.
But in the end, I'd just go with a Mazda 3 or a Nissan or something else.

Agreed about the gas mileage, that doesn't make sense if the car was running fine. Lets say your five-hundred goes 500km to a tank. And the Toyota goes 500km to a tank. At first glance it would seem that they get the same gas mileage. More than likely the five-hundred has a considerably larger gas tank and went through more gas. Eight cylinders is going to use more gas than a four cyclinder. Especially when one is domestic and one is imported.

First of all, the Five Hundred has 6 cylinders, not 8. And sometimes cars are too heavy for their engines therefore burn more gas to move the same weight. It's what happened, I'm sure with the corolla. I am not in the least joking about the gas mileage. I get about 30-32 in the city and nearly 40 on the highway. Alot has to do with the CVT transmission in my car as well, it maximizes fuel efficiency. I know it's hard to believe, but I've had the car over a year now. The mileage as dropped to about 28 this winter because of warming it up, but it's the gospel truth. It's the best car I've ever owned, as far as everything goes.

Well I have a hard time believing that, mostly because of this.

Good for you, but I drive the car. If you ever read up about those posted MPG's there are a lot of factors that affect what the test-drivers get. Factors that probably don't exist for us real folk who drive the cars.

You can browse through the whole site to figure out which factors affect what. All I know is that I get the mileage I said with MY Five Hundred (a 2005 BTW, with CVT transmission). AND the mileage was the same on the Corolla we rented in Victoria. Perhaps the fact that we were driving a sea-level affected it. Or the little 4-banger isn't as efficient at moving the vehicle as my V6 is. I don't know. I was just relating my personal experience with the situation.
