I wouldn't place all artificial sweeteners in the same category as aspertame. Sucralose (trade name Splenda) is about as close to the taste and chemical properties of real sugar (sucrose) and it doesn't metabolize into formeldehyde like aspertame does.

I was amazed at how cheap pop is out here in Ontario when I moved from Calgary. 24 packs of Coke at regular price are $3.99 here. You can pick up three sometimes for $8.99 or $7.99. Actually I still find it strange that there is such a difference.

I thought Canadian Coke was more expensive because we used real sugar in our Coke instead of the High Fructose Corn Syrup they use in the U.S.
