I understand the uses for it if you are a diabetic, but for people who try to eat healthy, artificial sweeteners are probably one of the most hazardous things to ingest.
I wouldn't place all artificial sweeteners in the same category as aspertame. Sucralose (trade name Splenda) is about as close to the taste and chemical properties of real sugar (sucrose) and it doesn't metabolize into formeldehyde like aspertame does.
I was amazed at how cheap pop is out here in Ontario when I moved from Calgary. 24 packs of Coke at regular price are $3.99 here. You can pick up three sometimes for $8.99 or $7.99. Actually I still find it strange that there is such a difference.
Diet Coke is horrible! I am a recovering diet-coke addict (my drug of choice is Coca Cola Zero), every once and a while, I slip... but for the most part I have been clean for about a year now.
My friend's Mom did her master's thesis on the effects of aspartame on the brain, and her final conclusion was that it causes actual holes in your brain tissue. She would always say "Would you rather be smart and fat or dumb and skinny?"... ha ha ha
Looks like you've now admitted that you're dumb & skinny, AND a bleeding heart New Democrat to boot, what a deadly combo
Safeway has a Buy 1 Get 1 Free sale right now (in the US for all us living south of the border right now).......for 12 packs. Buy one 12 pack of soda and get one free. Price is $3.00 total (plus tax)!
I used to love Coke and I would have jumped all over this deal.
Unfortunatley, I don't like the fact that the average person in North America consumes over 56 gallons of Soft Drinks each year. That is about 600 cans. Each can has about 10 teaspoons of sugar. This I cannot consume (well I still drink it with my whiskey).
Then have diet soda! I'm sure it's on sale as well. NO Sugar.
