You can argue that humans aren't causing it to happen (and probably lose), but everyone is in agreement that 3 degrees is pretty drastic and it's going to have serious consequences.

BTW, I would guess that scientists are split 50/50 along the conservative/liberal lines.

At the height (depth?) of the last great ice age the average temperature of the earth was "only" 6 degrees cooler.

It doesn't take much.
