I didn't miss your point. Yes tax cuts tend to be small when it comes to individuals but large after every person adds up there cut.

I just had a beef with this comment of yours:
I can't help but be pessimistic and say to myself, "I've heard this all before". I'm sure my tax releif will be to the tune of $100/year or something equally as awesome. Just like my child care benefit.

Basically you are saying that your child care benefit is about $100 a year when in fact it is $1200 a year per child under 6. SO....you get much more than I do...so quit complaining.

I am not whining you are the one whining. $1200 is better than nothing at all, exactly what you where getting before. Sometimes you just can please some people.

interestingly our day care centre is raising fees, likely by 100 a month, stating that everyone else is doing it, and we should be able to afford it (luckily we can so I"m not complainig personally) because the government is now giving the extra 100 a month

I'm not saying that the daycare, and daycare workers , don't deserve the extra money either, because they likely do , but I'm guessing many families that are going the day care route aren't actually noticing the impact of the 100 dollar cheque

Well my point, is that the $1200 doesn't even come close to adressing the issues at hand. I hate it when people say "its better than nothing". It does nothing to address the core of the problem, its just a band-aid solution. If you really want to give me a benefit that actually affects or *gasp* improves my life, find a way to make part-time childcare affordable while my wife works part time so she can spend more time with our child.

They would be noticing it if they didn't have the $100 cheque.

my point is the daycare just raised the fees 100 dollars, saying they did it because we have an extra 100 dollars

so sure I guess they notice that they get to go to the bank and deposit an extra cheque each month

it does make a difference for families who are using options other than daycare centres though I would agree

True, and I would hope that the extra money these daycares are paying will attracted more and better people to the industry.
