For Hemingway I'll add In Our Time, which is a great collection of short stories.
And as long as we're into the lost generation, I thought Tender is the Night by F Scott Fitzgerald was an interesting read

I haven't read Tender is the Night. I'll have to check that out. I was a fan of Gatsby a long time ago, but I haven't ranged too far afield in Fitzgerald.
I'm into Kenneth Fearing at the moment--The Big Clock, Dagger of the Mind--both good reads, and the former was made into a movie. I'm also a fan of Dos Passos, from around the same time period--the U.S.A. trilogy is fantastic.
