The one I find most amazing is the lady that is 114 years old in Japan, meaning she was born in 1893. So she
- Was twelve during the Russo-Japanese war of 1905, back when over 2/3 of the world was ruled from Europe, Britain was the world's most powerful nation, and Alberta (!!!!) became a province.
- Was twenty-one when World War One began.
- Was a pensioner back in 1958.
Further, when she was born, there were no airplanes, very few cars (especially in Japan), and not only was there no computers and no television, they had not even invented even RADIO (1895) or MOVIES (again, 1895) yet.
If you think about how many hours you spend in your car, on your computer, watching tv, listening to the radio and watching movies - and how much all these activities influence our culture - it should absolutely blow your mind to consider that.
