28 bites in 1989 to 1 in 2003. This while not destroying any pit bull without a history of aggression.

Yep, according to that they should ban the german shephard. More bites and alot bigger than Pit bull types.

Really wish people would just train their dogs. A lot of people seem to do some trash training, going with "roll over" and "jump" rather then the important ones.

A well trained Shepherd shouldn't attack unless provocked.

Don't know if this will make you feel better, but my guess is that emotionally, she'll be fine. Dogs don't tend to harbour emotional trauma the way that humans do. She's conditioned to fear big dogs right now, but as long as you and your fiance don't act fearful around big dogs, she'll eventually get over it. Dogs live in the moment.

BTW, how big is your dog? A smaller dog may naturally fear bigger dogs, just because they're, well, bigger.
