I got a ticket in an area with one of those, going down a hill I let my car coast to 12km over the speed limit at 8:45 on a Sunday morning. Because of the sign being located right in an intersection, I didn't even see it because I was more focused on on-coming traffic.
I'm not trying to make excuses, but don't the cops have better things to do than pick on someone who's probably only ever gone over the speed limit in a playground zone once or twice in his life? If the fine you send isn't at least $100, it's probably not going to be effective, dummies! I think the signs should say "when children are present" not a mandatory time sign. More like a school zone.
