And then when you call them on it, they give you a big f***around, deny it, or else the person you talk to either pretends not to know what you're talking about, or else really, actually has no idea what you're talking about.

DE can suck a nut. I don't even care if I'm paying more with Enmax, I'll never switch back to DE. They'd have to sweeten that pot tenfold to even make me consider it. Even more if it means I'm in a contract.

Sort of off topic here but.... how many of you on Easymax switch back and forth from floating to fixed, vice versa?

I've only been with easymax a few months but I notice the floating rates a little lower now. Is there a way to know the rate ahead of time?

I know they told me the change YOU make takes effect immediately, but I'm unsure of when the actual floating rate changes every month. Is it the first of each month?

I've been doing that for about 18 months now with nothing but positive results so far.

The regulated floating rate for a month is usually posted by Enmax on the first day of the month and is effective for that month. Sometimes, depending on the first is on a weekend or some holiday, it might be posted a day earlier or a couple of days later.

The Alberta Utilities Commission also posts rates and are usually done a few days early:

Click on the "Current monthly energy charges" link and it shows that Enmax's rate will go up marginally to 7.804c/kwhr for January 2014.

I have no direct experience myself but I saw this in the news:

Chernihovsky isn't alone. The Utilities Consumer Advocate, a branch of Service Alberta, confirms it has received hundreds of complaints about Direct Energy since the company opened a new billing and call centre in Guatemala City late last year.

When CBC first raised the issue with the government in March, a spokesman said the consumer advocate was "reassured" the issues were being resolved after meeting with Direct Energy's senior managers.
