Have you looked into satellite lately?
In my area, you don't even have to buy the receivers, they give them to you. A subscription gets you a free dish and up to 4 receivers.

Who ****ed in your cornflakes?
Lets see: - The golf channel is on regular cable, has been for years.
- H&L's father likes watching the golf channel.
- Now Shaw says they are removing aforementioned channel from regular cable, and putting it on Digital only
- In order to get favourite channel, now a set top box must be purchased/rented.
So why shouldn't H&L be ****ed at Shaw? Something has been working well for H&L's parent, and now it will be an additional expense + PITA to get things back to like they have been up until now.
And you get up on your soapbox about F'ed up priorities? Wow, maybe you are the most well adjusted person on the planet, but since you took time to rant about this topic an internet message board it appears you may want to examine your own priotities.
Really, who is playing at being holier than thou?

I have Shaw digital and I think it stinks. Both picture and audio quality seems inferior to plain old analog channels on cable. Hope this isn't the future of all their channels.

Agreed. I've seen the digital signals for both Bell and Shaw, and they both suck. Particularly on a big screen, and especially for hockey.
This is why, in the end, I actually chose Shaw over Bell. Shaw, even though they would prefer not to, still has to offer both Sportsnet and CBC on the analog channels. 90% of what I watch is hockey, and 90% of that is on these two channels.
