It's amazing how much our public isn't aware of what is happening in our agriculture sector. This 1 case in Manitoba isn't near as big as what is happening in BC, where cases are above 100 active farms tested positive this year. Human health risk has been very low so far. There is always a risk of ANY influenza mutating and becoming more virulent. This is coming from WILD BIRD populations spreading to commercial poultry. This is because H5N1 is endemic in wild bird populations, so it's here and it's here to stay.

I agree. It is best to work out all the kinks before targeting the farmers.

Bird flu brought a B.C. teen close to death. Here's what we know about H5N1

It aint the flu that scares me, it's the utter stupidity of the conspiracy theorist anti vaxxers, on the bright side though this should thin them out somewhat

Given all the research into MRNA vaccines for Covid, they will be able to make a vaccine for this as well. And the earth will cleanse itself of its dumbest inhabitants when the antivaxxers refuse this one.

And it did. The mortality rate among anti-vaxxers was higher during COVID than among science-believers. Problem is, there are so many that it never had much of an impact.

This one’s easier, it’s just the flu this time. We already have vaccine tech for it. Just have to accurately predict the strain.

The other nice thing about the Flu is the lower r-value than Covid. Much easier to control.

Fortunately unlike COVID, it also doesn't leave people dumber. Which it turns out is a pretty big problem, judging by the direction of society since the pandemic started.

We should start asking nonsensical posters how many times they've had COVID, we might extract some fascinating trends.

I don’t know if you can say the flu doesn’t cause these problems. We just get the flu at such a young age and repeatedly that there is no No Flu cohort to compare against.

A neat discussion of why viruses affect the brain including how the Spanish flu led to many cases of viral Parkinson’s.

The last article I read about this said there was about a 50% mortality rate and people will actually bleed from their eyes.

So I'm sure if this ever reaches pandemic levels, we'll have people in denial going out and licking birds.

Kinda seems like you want this to happen.
