Try it in a pub man, most have it. Way better then the cans. I wish more pubs carried Boddingtons.

Actually, I think it's brewed in Böblingen. I'm sure Josef can correct me if I'm wrong though.

If you haven't tried Efes, find it. An amazing beer from Turkey. It has no aftertaste whatsoever and it's absolutely delicious when it's on the pallette.
I'll jump on the 'Hoe' train, a great beer to be sure.
Zywiec I got to try recently when the rep dropped a can off, not bad stuff. I had it with my dinner. It didn't agree that well with greek food, but the few sips I had before were good.
If you can get your hands on Whychwood Hobgoblin, I would suggest drinking it. A very good dark beer with a slight taste of chocolate to it. I know it sounds wierd but it's fantastic (Their winter beer "Bah Humbug" is also pretty good).

On a beer related note, I was at the Ship and Anchor during Stampede and I was surprised to see that they have Blanche de Chambly on tap.
It's made in Quebec, by Unibroue, and is a bit like Hoegarden (minus the grapefruit taste).
Anyone else have any great finds "on tap" in Calgary?

The Belgo has a few different beer on tap. I tried "La Chouffre" last time (only time) I was in there.
And I was talking to a guy who said Big Rock has a new white beer out called White Rock. Anyone tried it yet?

Melrose used to have a Belgium beer called Bellevue (I think) and it was pretty good I had it once there years ago but when I went a few weeks ago and asked for it they said they don't stock it anymore.
I bought a few bottles of Innes Gunn a few weeks ago after reading this thread and it was awesome. Definatley want to try some of the others recommended

I was at Belgo a month or two ago, but it seemed like everything was bottled... guess I'll have to check them out again. Sort of a neat place. I like how they have all of the official glasses for each beer. I remember that they served us one beer that came with its own chemistry set. (A big glass bong shaped drinking vessel that had to sit in a wooden stand, hangman style, because the bottom was round). Not your usual round of beer, that's for sure.
I also wish Belgo had an appetizer/lounge menu. We went there for an afterwork beer/snack but had to skip the snack part. There was not a single thing on the dinner menu that could be shared except maybe mussles and fries.

I wasn't sitting near the bar, but I saw a lot of taps. Perhaps they were more standard brews, and the exotics are in bottles. I'd like to go back and try a few more, but the price is right up there.
What beer/liquor stores do people rely on to get some of these unique brews? The local Co-op does a good job at changing things up, but I never know where to look if I hear about a specific beer (like in this thread) and want a place to find it without searching the city.

[quote=the_only_turek_fan]My favourite import beer is Schönbuch Bräu which is brewed in Stuttgart, Germany (I think). I just loved this stuff when I was out there.
My other favourites are Löwenbräu and Hofbräu which are both brewed in Munich. The Hofbräuhaus in Munich was one of my favouite places in that country.
I love Lowenbrau as well, but would like to give this one a go, is it sold anywhere in Calgary?

I'm not sure if it's already been mentioned here but Bottlescrew Bills downtown has a great beer menu. They separate the menu up by country/region.

I know this is off topic but last night I bought Whistler Beer. Its a new brand and it was pretty smooth and fresh tasting.
I drank Heineken, too. It was soo hot last night, I had to keep drinking ice cold beer. It was soo good.

Right ..thats the one.. I had it at the end of my night. Not the kind of beer you buy a six pack of.
Has anyone ever been the resturant Suds and Spuds they have a couple in Vancouver and one right outside of Edmonton in Sherwood park, its been couple years since I've been there but they have a huge selection of beer.
