I'll still shop at Future Shop or Best Buy if I can get the best price and I know what I'm buying. I just don't expect any service as I know they are probably out to screw me.

Hey man, if he would have gone in and acted like a jerk and knocked over a few display stands I would have had no sympathy for him whatsoever. But he handled it in the right way. I still stand by what I said, its the jerks of the world who end up getting a spit burger.
As for you man, I'll meet you here after school, and I'll make sure I give you a receipt for the 5 knuckle shuffle that your about to receive

You're going to give him a 5 knuckle shuffle? Ewww, make sure you wash your hand afterwards or at least wear a rubber glove.

Yeah, I know, but my uncle was found dead in a closet wearing my grandmothers shoes and with a plastic bag over his head, so it creeped me out.

I work at futureshop... and as far as im concerned (as a sales person, not customer service) i dont know how you would find a reciept if you paid debit and didnt get any sort of warranty (as thats the only way to get any sort of information) and also if you dont pay credit and you dont get warranty there is only one copy of the reciept , being the customer copy... i really have no idea why you didnt get a copy in the first place... as for your purchase... if i can give all you guys one tip about purchasing product at futureshop, if your cheap enough to buy insignia, dont be too cheap to buy warranty on it... insignia is CRAP!!! seems like it always breaks down.

Uh oh Grunt, he called your purchase a POS! Fight fight fight, at the bike racks!
Is Insignia a Private Label/Brand, kinda like Centrios or Nexxtech from the Source?

I work in retail here in the UK and i'm astounded at the level of customer service, or lack of you received. We get faulty goods returned a lot. We're a very big company in the uk and growing in Europe etc so customer service is drilled in us from the get-go. The main reason your complaint wouldnt have happened though here is the law! In the UK people returning faulty goods that are returned within a reasonable period of time (ie not shoes that are 3 years old) are entitled to a full cash refund regardless of if they even have the receipt or not. Also taking that long to find proof of purchase is ridiculous. We can do it in 5 minutes going by nothing more than the date and we do about 1000 transactions a day. I certainly would take my business elsewhere.

I don't mean to be a jerk, but am I the only person here who sides with FS on this 1?
First off, why would anyone buy an TV and not make sure they're getting a recipt?
I seems that they have put in the effort to keep a second copy of your recipt in the back just in case you lost yours. If anything, I would be thanking FS for doing that, because I hadn't put in enough effort to protect my own purchase by getting a recipt or extended warrenty.
Secondly, why would you excpet a straight exchange if you didn't buy the extended warrenty?
Their exchange policies are clearly written and they clearly expalin what extra policies are included in the extended warrenty.
I just bought a plasma there and paid $600 bucks to cover these sorts of things. Why should someone else without the service plan get the same exchange policy I paid $600 for? Just cause you huff and puff at the employees?
And for those FS haters, what electronics company would cover a TV that a customer didn't have a recipt for, had no record of the purchase, or an extended warrenty?

But as eventually showed, they DID have a copy of the receipt. By the sounds of it, it never would have amounted to more than warrantee service is they had cut out the BS and recovered the receipt in the first place.
Even if they had asked for a day or two to come up with the receipt, I'm guessing it wouldn't have been a problem.
Even after he had been told by corporate headquarters that they keep receipts, he was give the run around.
Now I agree FS has no obligation to replace the TV or offer a refund, and since they actually sell that service, they probably shouldn't. (Although if you are buying something expensive and you feel the need to buy an additional warrantee, perhaps you would be better of spending that extra money on a better product instead)
But if Future Shop had handled it better, this thread with lots of bad press for FS would not have existed.
FS mishandled the whole affair.
