'75 Dodge Dart, banana yellow in colour (with some rustholes...to make it look mean), slant 6 (most unbreakable engine ever built), basically no brakes to speak of, 160,000 miles (not kms) when I bought it.

I'm not kidding about the brakes, if I had to stop at redlights, and there was someone in front of me, I was sweating bullets, because the damn thing would stop fine, but after a couple seconds the brake pedal would start creeping towards the floor, and once it contacted the floor, that was it, I was moving forward whether I wanted to or not...it was ridiculous, but still makes me laugh when I think of it (luckily, I never had an acccident with that car, I think God took pity on me for having to drive such a piece of junk at 16 when most of my friends had Camaros or Mustangs etc).

Cost me $550 (thanks, crappy Woolco stockman job!), bought in '86 from some guy who had it advertised in the Bargain finder. Owned it for 2 1/2 years, never put a drop of oil in it, sold it for $500.

I wouldn't be shocked if that damn car is still running.

Ahh, memories.

1986 chevy nova . . . trying to turn across 22x in this 3-cylinder beast really got the ol' heart pumping.

6 wheel drive / steering, great trunk room with the flip down hatch in the rear. Loud horn in the steering wheel center. Can't remember what the shift lever did, mine broke off pretty early on.

God I loved that thing. Best gift ever.

A 1976 Vauxhall Viva bought for 200 pnds in England. It was bright yellow with a black vinyl roof. Real classy! Didn't last long. I think I killed it on a trip to Scotland.

Similar to this one, without my wonderful vinyl roof though. Isn't she a beauty!

MY (after driving around my mothers car for a few years) very first car was a 1988 Chev Beretta. A good friend of mine gave it to me when he bought a new one. The third person to own this car (after his mother and him) it came to me already in rickety shape and I did my very best to run it into the ground.

When I finally gave it back to him after about 3 more years of use it had 296,000 Kms on it, significant engine damage. Brakes shot, shocks shot, wheels creaping into baldness, cracked windshield, a a grey door where I had to replace it after an accident (not my fault). The interior lights would not shut off when you turned off the car, so the fuse had to be pulled lest the battery run dry. Lights that would only work in 'hi-beam' mode (though no one really noticed anyway) Turn signal indicator stick had broken off (not that the signals reliably worked anyway).

At one point it just got to be where I was replacing things too often so I just let them go. At one point, I did try to take care of it. But, things get old I guess.

Im still driving my first car, I got in high school in 2000, it's a 1991 Pontiac Sunbird. This thing is a beauty, it is now equipped with a hole in the door that hasnt been fixed, so water goes right into the hole. making the door as heavy as a bag of rocks. Also, it has no heat, it leaks water, giving it a pleasant funk. Oh, and it goes about 40 km/h......Yeah, she's a beaut.

a 1985 Hyundai Stellar. A truly stellar automobile.....

what a piece of crap. Bought it in the early 90's (Mom & Dad were pretty generous with their cars when I was a teenager. Drove a 1980 GMC pickup, 86 Buick Century wagon and a 1988 Chevy Van) I sold it for $500 and saw it abandoned in a ditch a week and a half later. The cops called me about it as the guy hadn't even registered the vehicle. Glad I kept the bill of sale.

1974 Chevy Malibu Classic (like the one above), mine was gray and went like stink! (327 small block, 5.4 L V8, produced around 340 hp) You could almost watch the gas gauge go down....

'87 Toyota truck that I drove since my dad didn't really use it that much. It was originally my uncle's who just moved back to Calgary from California. The thing was mint, no rust or dents until my dad started using it for work. LOL... It finally died a couple months ago after 360,000 miles. That's right, I said miles. Spun a rod bearing me thinks since there was so much oil leaking from the block. Only thing needed replacing prior to this was the headgasket.

Currently drive a '91 Honda CRX Si and 2003 Subaru WRX.

The first car I had was a '67 Falcon. Unlike this, mine was a four door, but the same puky yellow. Slant six, with a three on a tree tranny, which made it a fun driving car at 17! I only had it insured with a temporary 10 day(couldnt afford full at the time, not sure if you can still do that?), so that was the extent of my very first car.

The first car I really had though....which I did fully insure, was a '71 Firebird Formula 350. Beautiful car. Went like snot. Even had power windows. Exact same as this, but the color was the same blue as the one beside it. Drove it into the ground for about a year.

I maintain these were the biggest pieces of crap ever to roll on Canadian roads. Rustproofing? What's that? I've yet to see one of these that WASN'T streaming blue smoke, and in danger of reverting to a pile of iron oxide....
