You're bias.

No, I'm human.

You're biast.

What is a biast?

The word bias seems to really trip up a lot of people.

My biggest trouble is I type too fast.

Here's one: the cover letter for a resume I sent out last week for a summer job had two periods after one sentence--mentioning my attention to detail

doh!

Did you also mention that you had a sense of humour? You could have passed it off as a joke.

This one drives me mental. It was my intention on the new board to actually use the language filters to change "I could care less" to "I couldn't care less" but we lost that feature in the move.

Oh, and 'pyro man', if you are reading this you need to start using periods in your posts.

But, I have to say, I think the posters here are better than the internet standard, at least most of you try to make sense. Definitely an improvement over some posters on the old cf.com board. Is it that hard to just read your post before clicking "post?"

I hate to do this to you, and I wasn't until you added this line at the end.

"Is it that hard to just read your post before clicking "post?""'

You should have read your post over again.

usage Irregardless originated in dialectal American speech in the early 20th century. Its fairly widespread use in speech called it to the attention of usage commentators as early as 1927. The most frequently repeated remark about it is that "there is no such word." There is such a word, however. It is still used primarily in speech, although it can be found from time to time in edited prose. Its reputation has not risen over the years, and it is still a long way from general acceptance. Use regardless instead.
So there...

I hate when people use the word 'tonite'

Why is it so tough to spell it 'tonight'? This started appearing all the time within the last year and it's the only grammar/spelling mistake I absolutely can't stand.

On the contrary, I could care less, but that would take a lot more effort so I choose not to.

I agree 100% KG, that is a huge pet peeve of mine as well. I saw "He could care less" in Macleans magazine yesterday, and started to wonder if I was in fact wrong - that it did exist as a euphamisim for not caring. Even though it makes no sense.

Turns out Macleans magazine just sucks. YAY!

As long as someone puts forth an effort in the grammar department I am okay with that. It's the internet slang grammar that annoys me. yer instead of your, that sort of things.

Funny thread.

As long as I can make sense out of what I am reading I really don't care about grammer or spelling anyhow.

I do have a pet peeve with the improper use of the word ignorant however.

edit: I wonder how many people checked what they said before posting

Another one is when people say (or write) premises when they mean premise, or vice-versa. These are not singular/plural forms of the same word.

The thing that really kills me on this site is someone putting another poster down with "retarted."

We can certainly argue that the flippant use of the word "######ed" should be out of bounds but labelling someone as stupid with the non-existent "retarted" couldn't have a bigger boomerang going for it.
