I play on one of the best maintained rinks in the city, Up to Friday there were huge patches of concrete. Anyway forget about that. Does anyone have stats on how much (or should I say little) precip we've gotten this winter??

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the Mountains getting a pile of snow?

As long as the glacier that supplies the Bow River is getting dumped on and not retreating, I'm more than happy with the warm weather. Especially cause its a North America phenomenon, it'll mean lower natural gas/oil prices, less accidents (lower insurance premiums), and less deaths to homeless people. And we can walk around in relative comfort. I'd say its all good. Especially cause its not related to Climate Change/Global Warming, but to a "Polar Vortex" shifting over to Europe, rather than Canada and the Northern US.

Agree 100%. I've been out skiing over a dozen times this winter so far and it's very very good out there. Lake Louise, Sunshine, Fernie, Kimberley, and Marmot are all in great condition.

Don't look to your brown lawn as an indicator of the skiing in the mountains. Very little to do with each other (I'm happy to report).

Just got back from Fernie. It was unbelievable as usual.

Personally I like this weather. I don't want it to be -20. If I want snow, I'll head west for an hour.

Yeah, it dumped on us last night. But it isn't any colder, so I'm not sure how this helps your rinks.

I love this warm weather. The rinks are in fine condition, and I don't have to freeze the whole drive over to work. Works for me...

there are some pro's and con's to the weather we've had this winter.

Pro's:

People don't drive like Moron's (happens whenever it snows)
Golf Season might start early (Insert Generic Oilers Joke Here)
I can take my son out in his stroller without putting a ton of stuff on him
I don't freeze when I walk to work or home from work (Generally the winds shift to be in my face both ways)
The Construction of the Glamorgan Safeway goes quicker, thus showing them how stupid it was to put it here alot quicker

Con's:

Most of the time the weather hasn't left the ice in the best of condition's for hockey
It just didn't feel like Christmas without the snow
I can't get use of the Snowsuit I bought my son for Christmas
Tire retailers/Repair Garage's aren't making much money because of less accidents
people who work outdoors can't come into my store and say "must be nice to work inside" then procded to point out I must wear a dress because i work inside (they are regulars so it's ok)

I admit it.

Its all my fault.

This is what I get for buying winter tires for the first time in my life.

It's because we sent all of our moisture to Vancouver....mwhahahahah!
The British Columbia city endured 29 days of rain over the 31 days in January, the most for the month since weather watchers began keeping records in 1937.
http://www.cbc.ca/story/canada/natio...ver060131.html

The dark dank conditions surely will have an effect on Canuck injury recovery rates and overall morale..... Pass the Prozac!

How are people managing that? I've got a chunk out of my hood that probably came from a rock from a sander...

Calgary is a desert. It's an arid prairie region with humidity levels that can dip to the same as the Sahara Desert.

Technically, thats not true. Calgary is right on the line between semi-arid prairie, and somewhat more humid woodland/foothills regions, not to mention the affect that the Bow River Valley has on both the water table and neighboring air humidities.
