Thomas is only 26 and locked in at decent rate for the next 5 years after this season (market value at least). It's a deal that works for the present and should be a good one for years.
Centers like him aren't on the trade market often, so unless you are planning to bottom out, he's not a bad player to go after.

Probably something like that. Maybe swap in Kulich for Ostlund. The Sabres have lots of pieces in the right age range.

Has Schmaltz ever gotten anything right.
Both Power and Helenius would be surprising to me.
Rumour has been Buffalo is going to be very careful moving anything off the current roster to mess with chemistry and they have heavily relied on their top 4 - so moving Power would be very surprising to me.
If those two were on the table the deal is done already IMO.

I had to look it up. Not quite zero but there isn't much.
Bowen Byram has a cup ring. Robert Thomas (should he be traded there) has a cup ring.
Tuch and McLeod both lost in the finals.
However, other than that. Nobody else has extensive experience. Maybe Zucker but he only made it out of the 1st round once... and Lyon, he knows how to sit on the bench for 4 rounds... after playing the first three playoff games.
