Yeah the PR game means nothing. Beat Cuba and you’re in. Should adjust the lineup after a few innings appropriately vs PR tomorrow and give some playing time to the young guys, and be ready for Cuba Wed.

Maybe we can negotiate some fuel deliveries to Havana as well for some runs.

They should try their best to win both games.

I'd much rather win both and play Mexico/Italy in the QF, rather than mail it in vs. PR and play USA.

I agree they should try to win, but not to the extent of depleting their pitching staff for the game vs Cuba which is must-win. I think you need to save the best 5-6 pitchers for Cuba.

Well of course, Cuba is the must win game.

I was more or less saying you don't rest any of your best position players. They're used to playing everyday, and just had an off day. The difference between USA or MEX/ITA is massive.

Yeah, I completely agree with that - realistically they aren't beating the USA so playing Mexico or Italy gives a better chance of moving on. And the position players are fine to play both games - I actually think they're more likely to stay sharp if they don't have too many off days.

They actually have maximum pitch limits for the WBC - I wouldn't pitch anyone more than 29 pitches vs Puerto Rico because we're already depleted. James Taillon and Michael Soroka are unavailable due to the pitch count limits (pitched over 50 pitches vs Panama/Columbia, need 4 days of rest). We'll get Cal Quantrill for the start, and the Cubans have their ace on the mound (who is a top NPB pitcher).

2 great ABs, bases loaded walks

Then a poor AB, Lopez impatient with the pitcher on the ropes.

3 outs from beating PR.
And Italians shutting out the US.

Ugh. Another bases loaded 1 out with no runs. With 2 MLB players getting those outs. Like two nights ago need to cash some of those chances in to go anywhere, even to just get in to the QF.

Win!
Now Cuba for our first quarter final appearance.

Though that Panama loss stings as they’d already be through.
Need some offense. 2 runs were off bases loaded walks tonight and left the bases loaded 3 times tonight.

Italians with the upset!!!
Showdown with Mexico tomorrow.

With a handshake agreement the Mexicans can beat the Italians in a low scoring game , both Italians and Mexicans would go through with the USA out. Mainly thanks to how many runs they gave up today to Italy.

Italy does it! Judge K for the final out.

The Italians can get first in their group by beating Mexico. The USA will be eliminated if Mexico wins a low scoring game.

Let the corruption begin for the next 20h.

USA out would be a disaster for the WBC.
Trump will lose his ####.

Does Italy care if they finish first or second? Why should they? They’re going to be playing Canada or Puerto Rico or Cuba. I don’t think any of those teams scare them after beating the US handily.

So then it’s up to Mexico being the ones able to punt the US. Imagine. And after hardo Raleigh snubbing teammate Aroezernia yesterday? Very juicy.

As long as Mexico wins and scores less than 8 runs, the US is out.

Tomorrow will be fun.

Canada vs Cuba first. Canada wins and they're 1st, lose and they're out.

Then Italy vs Mexico, they will know the result from Group A.

Then DR vs Venezuela to avoid Japan.
