Are GB actually eliminated? Media online all saying that they still have a chance, they need to beat the USA then have one of Norway and Italy to lose both their remaining games - and both those teams have to play the top two teams so not likely but not impossible

They are definitely not eliminated. If they beat the US Mouat will finish at 5-4. The US would be 4-5 so they are behind Great Britain. Norway and Italy are both 4-3 with games left against Switzerland and Canada. If either loses out they drop to 4-5 which would make Mouat 4th. It's not impossible that both Norway and Italy lose their last two games in which case one of the 4-5 teams would get into the playoffs.

If Germany can put in 3 Bobsled teams and go 1-2-3 in Medals, shouldn't Canada be able to put in 3 Olympic hockey teams.

Or curling at the very least. Canada could easily field 2-3 teams per Olympics, and they're set teams so it wouldn't be nearly as messy as multiple hockey teams

I think format plays a role - multiple slots in a race format adds like one extra minute to a competition.

I think Beach volleyball is the only match based "team" sport (but really just 2 people) that gives multiple slots to a country - max 2 in a 24 team field. It's also based around an established world tour, and the 12th and 16th ranked mens teams (12th and 14th women's too) got squeezed out because they were 3rd in their NOC.

Hockey is a 12 team field and curling is 10 teams; neither really has a "tour" - qualifications are based on annual world championships with 1 team per NOC.

NHL should do a tournament with 2-3 Team Canadas and 1-2 Team USAs.

We had 2 teams in bobsled

Sadly funding for bobsled has not kept up with other nations.
