Add in Kuznetzov and graduating 4 prospects in a year- (legit prospects not ageing tweeners) is quite something

I do think it's a failure if they don't draft top 3, having that, not the end of the world, they still have a few years after this where they should still be in the conversation about drafting high, as a whole the org is on the right track

I assume you mean finishing bottom 3. They cannot help it if two teams jump over them.
You have to finish dead last to guarantee bottom 3.

Do we have a set rule for graduating prospects? 25 games, or some such number? Or do we just make subjective decisions each year?

So it could go both ways. Rico Fata tilts it pretty heavily into being a not great draft position for the Flames.

Tkachuk was a great pick. There was no cons

Yeah....he was definitely trending in a very good way before getting derailed by head injury and heading to Europe.

Personally if we got 6th, I'd be happy it wasn't worse and hope we draft a good C or LD. Bjork, Malhotra, Lawrence or Smits, please.

Assuming we don’t end up at 666, we’ll be fine.

Bennett is the highest pick ever at 4th. The Flames have historically had a very tough time picking higher than 6th, where they've picked many times.
Corey Stillman - 727 points in 1025 games
Daniel Tkaczuk - 11 points in 19 games
Rico Fata - 63 points in 230 games
Sean Monahan - 622 points in 870 games
Matthew Tkachuk - 644 points in 652 games
Most have McKenna, Stenberg, Verhoeff, Reid and Malhotra in their top 5.
The 6th pick arguably begins the next tier, with guys like Lawrence, Bjork, Belchetz, Smits, Carels.
But I do think that at least one guy in the 2nd group goes in the top 5, and at least one guy in the 1st group doesn't go top 5.
The Flames are still most likely to pick 5th (45% chance). Much higher than any other position.

Honzek is still considered a prospect by many and was drafted a whole year before Parekh.
I am just wondering what is considered being graduated? I can't find an answer when I search online.
|
I believe Calder Trophy eligibility is one of the criteria Bingo has used in the past.
For Parekh, he will not be eligible for the Calder next season if he plays 13 or more games for the rest of the season. The Flames have 26 games remaining and he'll likely play in at least half of them, so he won't be Calder eligible after this season.

Just saw Malholtra, it may be that he is playing the 67’s but the two times I have seen him live he has not done much. But his team has been dominated in both of those games.

I'm personally glad to hear it if true. Malholra at this point (and we still have half a season) seems like a safeish 200 ft player that tops out as a 2nd liner. This would be like drafting a Zary or Klimchuck again... If its a mid teens 1st go for it, but not with a top 5 pick. I think people are really sleeping on Bjorck for whatever reason. Cant figure that one out, he's Brayden Point 2.0.

The Flames got a couple of pretty good players at #6 in Monahan, and Tkachuk. This more than made up for the young guys picks in Fata and Tkaczuk. HM: Cory Stillman. If we don't get a star player this year, then we'll get one next year, or the year after.
The last 2 drafts have shown the Flames have one of the best amature scouting departments in the league, so I will defer to their ability to pick the best player available.
