I suspect part of this is the Rangers pressuring Panarin to waive his NMC.

That could be true. I completely forgot that they don't give a damn about treating their players right if they're no longer considered part of the plan.
Might not make a difference given the pull of New York and the big market, but would be nice to hear of some people avoiding them for that reason.

Panarin really seemed to understand that he would be traded and didn't seem to fussed about it publicly, but yeah I'm sure he's trying to exercise some control here and limit where he can get dealt

Detroit has lots of cap space. Panarin-Kane reunion?
For some reason I think he goes to Dallas.

Panarin has always engineered where he wants to go. He exerts as much control as any player. NYR benefited from that, and now it's going to burn them. I'll enjoy it.

Well… not always. He did get stuck in Columbus for 2 years and probably thought “never again”

get a superstar winger for free in free agency
have a Norris level defenseman force his way onto your team
find a Vezina level goalie in the 4th round of the draft
draft 2nd and 1st overall in back-to-back years
how do you eff this up that badly? Insane.

Well, getting left-shot wingers with both picks didn't do them any favors.

They were very unlucky with their tank years. But at least they announced a rebuild to their fans.

Rangers farm team has no scoring, either. Top 3 scorers are Trey Fix-Wolansky, Justin Dowling, and Derrick Pouliot - none of them prospects.
Highest scoring prospect is Jaroslav Chlemar with 19 points in 35 games, followed by Brendan Brisson and Brett Berard and

This would actually be very interesting. They are now running Marcus Johansson as the 2LW, but could you imagine dealing with Kaprisov, and then he comes off the ice and Pararin jumps on?
Not a lot to give in trade, but Bednak, Jiricek and a 2027 1st isn't horrible.

So what do the Panthers need to do to fit him in? I'd guess the Hurricanes will inquire, but I'd guess it's a market like Miami, Chicago, maybe one of the California teams where he picks to go.

The San Jose Sharks have inquired on Artemi Panarin, and he would be willing to sign an extension in SJ, per @Sheng_Peng

Or Vegas. I'd like this 26 Vegas pick to become a lotto pick too.

Isn't there a rule that a team is supposed to dress the best team they can?
