If Cooley had a longer track record he would have been able to go UFA and probably would have done better than the contract he just signed. I think he has starter ability.
Good to see them having fun...must have been a challenge with Cooley being sick. And..he looks skinny!
He's always been thin, just the way he's built. There are a couple of people in our family built the same way, and lots of others wishing they'd received that "thin" gene.

I thought I was the only one who noticed. It must be sanctioned. I'm so old I remember the trumpet guy at the Dome who just started doing that on his own, but the arena went with it. They'd never allow that these days.

Spoiler!
Guaranteed Loss
Quote:
This game hall the makings of being a disappointment. Hope they come to play in the first period. There's still no separation in the wild card race
Quote:
Beyond the four game losing streak, the Flames are also really bad on the road too.
Anyways, can’t wait for the 3-2 SO loss.
Quote:
Flames are not very good but they can bring a good game today. Pens are playing so well but you simply never know. Need points so home game and needed win today. Boston is not what they were and rebuild there as well. Love to sweep the weekend and keep the momentum going.
Quote:
If they lose it's automatically Hayes's fault.
Quote:
If you lose to an injured Flames side because you're missing Rust, you didn't deserve to win.
Quote:
The most Penguins thing would be to go down 3-0, rally to force OT, lose in a shootout, and then boatrace Boston tomorrow.
Quote:
This just feels like a trap game already.
Quote:
No Dustin Wolf
I wanted to see him play
Zary on the Breakaway!
Quote:
Wow what a dumb play
Quote:
Sigh
Quote:
Woof on that play by Shea.
Horrible pass.
Gotta be more aware than that
Quote:
Beer league stuff
Quote:
Just dog#### for everyone involved.
Quote:
Shea gifts Zary a 120-foot breakaway, and here comes the runaway leader worst take on HF Boards of the last decade. It's not close.
Every toddler in Australia's outback who has never seen ice before in their lives would have had a more intellectual reaction to that goal.
Quote:
Welp that was not a good pass across the top of the zone there. Almost a guaranteed breakaway the other direction every time. Come on Shea, you know better.
Quote:
Well nuts, I didn’t see it bcs I had to leave the room briefly. But I have the radio on and I heard it…borque is not happy with 65 and with the F1 on that play
Quote:
That's a pass that gets you benched. Wtf is that lol. So obviously not there
Quote:
Shea could not have telegraphed that pass more if it had flashing warning lights on it.
Quote:
Shea with another assist. Dude's on fire this season.
Quote:
Every person in the building knew what Shea was gonna do with the puck.

Geno attracts these players to tryt hese stupid globtrotting ####. Acciari should have just shot that
Quote:
Too many passes there.
Shoot the puck
Quote:
What can the coaching staff tell this team to get them to stop of blind behind the back passes?
Quote:
The communication on the ice is abysmal so far
Quote:
If my life depended on the ability to shoot the puck into the chest of the goaltender, and I could either take that shot or defer, zero thought I’m choosing Letang open in the slot.
Quote:
Calgary is stifling our breakout through the neutral zone and sealing the boards in the Pens' offensive zone. Shea made a mistake but it was also a really nice play by Zary. Fortunately they're only down 1. If Silovs can hold up, I think we'll be alright.
Quote:
They're going to speed run the Sullivan experience but not get any Cups out of it
Quote:
Every coach is Sullivan just like every goalie is Jarry.
Quote:
We lead the league in no look, totally sick, passes to absolutely nobody.
Quote:
Yeah…thinking they thought they could mail this game in today…
Quote:
If passing into your teammates' skates was the goal of the game Pens would be winning in a blowout.
Quote:
Nothing happening.
Quote:
Pens are having a hell of a time trying to pass and skate today. Calgary just playing strong and shutting down passing lanes. Also feels like the Pens don't have their legs
Quote:
Sid was the problem on that PP. Two trash passes that killed a ton of time.
Quote:
We’re going to make some rando AHL goalie named Cooley look like a Vezina winner, aren’t we, per usual? Lol
Hack & Slash
Quote:
Calgary taking the old man beer league approach of just lumberjacking everything and everyone.
Quote:
slop fest
Quote:
Man, we are losing almost every puck battle.
Quote:
LOL Sid being captain troll and instigating shenanigans and then it keeps going at the buzzer with the fourth line. Hilarious. Hopefully it wakes the Pens up.
Quote:
Doesn't Calgary know how good we are this year? They had better start playing like it!! Jerks
Quote:
Team is soff. Didn't answer the Coronato chicken #### and we have no juice all period.
Quote:
In a game like this you really notice how the Pens don't have that #### kicker in the line up and how badly they need to scout the team and dress accordingly.
Quote:
Seriously.
Flames have done everything they needed to, to piss the Pens off to get them engaged and they just look flaccid.
But then that happens. Geno-Chinner.
Here comes the BOOM
Quote:
That was a really nice hit.
Quote:
Oh boy Chinakhov got felled like timber
Quote:
Wow. Hope Chinakhov is ok. Big hit. Had his head down
But a hard clean hit
Quote:
That'll teach him.
Quote:
I can't believe the video of Chinakov getting launched in the second period isn't all over social media. He got absolutely drilled in the open ice.
Paid off Stripes
Quote:
2 absolutely pathetic calls in a row.
Quote:
Zary f***ing sold that. Jesus, what a trash penalty to call given the game up to this point.
Quote:
That’s like half as blatant as Klapka’s.
Quote:
Refs are a joke tonight. Saw that same thing to Lizzotte in the first and no call
Quote:
hahahaha what a soft call
Quote:
sounded like a ridonkulous penalty
Scoronato Schnipes!

Fudge me
Quote:

Quote:
Novak should have stayed on the gas…
Quote:
Well that was a whole lotta nothing.
Quote:
That's probably game unfortunately.
Quote:
Pretty weak defense by Novak there. Forwards giving up way too much time on the backcheck.
Quote:
How does nobody get back in time? Slowest ####tiest 3 on 2
Quote:
They've certainly had worse games, but this has been such a sloppy, low effort, bore of a game.
Quote:
Getting out balded by the other bald wanker.
Quote:
I know a lot of people are gonna bitch about the Pens possibly losing to Calgary but you gotta hand it to the Flames. They've played a very good game and have been extremely stingy defensively. The cycle plays the Pens are used to having open have just been closed off today.
Sometimes even bad teams bring their A game. It happens.
Be nice if the Pens could find a way to grab a point or two though
Quote:
How to give everyone hope the last two weeks only to lose a home game against a team fighting for the bottom of the standings.
A nice smack back down to reality.
Challenge not Accepted
Quote:
Shorthanded anyway. Just shoulda challenged
Quote:
Rightfully scared to challenge cause this league has no idea what goalie interference is
Quote:
That's ridiculous. Who is this officiating crew? They've been bad all night.
Quote:
And that's the crux of this, the league has no effing clue what it is and they never enforce it the same way twice.
Quote:
Still have no idea why you wouldn’t challenge that.
Quote:
most frustrating game in a while
Quote:
Sick of these dog#### refs.
Also, #### the Flames for acting like the biggest ####s we’ve played against all season.
Jinx Man
Quote:
I’m not superstitious but they jinxed the team putting Hayes in the lineup. The other team scored as soon as he was on the ice.
Quote:
Ugh. Hayes. Move your feet!!!
Quote:
15-4-2 when Kevin Hayes doesn’t play.
6-9-7 when he does play.
There’s your reason why the golf course in April is still an unfortunate reality.
Quote:
I've never seen a player that looks like they play in slow motion like Hayes does. He doesn't contribute at all, and it's crazy how drastically different their record is when he's out of the lineup vs. when he's in.
Quote:
Not to beat a dead horse, but this is a worse team with Kevin Hayes in the lineup, their record with him vs. without him doesn't lie. If Kevin Hayes must play he should be on the end of the bench and only play like 3 minutes a game, like what teams used to do with enforcers. Personally I would go 7 d before dressing Hayes. Clifton is fresh, he hasn't played in a while.
Quote:
Hayes single-handedly rendered Mantha and Boobies useless out there.
He has to be one of the worst players in the league this season.
Quote:
Someone banish both Kevin Hayes and the referees to the CBT dimension.
Quote:
We all knew that Hayes coming back into the lineup would mean the end of the streak.
Quote:
Should’ve stuck an AHL player on Sid’s line and left Hayes out of the lineup. Left the rest of it the same.
Quote:
What did we learn today, boys? Don't put Hayes in the lineup.

The funniest thing about ATLs is hearing other teams make the identical complaints about their teams as Flames fans do, especially when they in effect say “it’s such a [team name] thing to do”. Starting slow, first goals for rookies, opponent backups playing like Hasek, shooting into the goalies’ chests, refs against them, etc.

In 14 games Cooley has a 2.29 GAA and a .918 SP. Impressive
I didn't follow as closely as I should but did Cooley not get unanimous condemnation from the press and CP coming out of camp? Maybe the pros do know something we don't? He seems like a really humble, good guy, so good on him to have this success and the team needs two reliable goalies.
