I think I shut it down too early, went out to run an errand and the neighbours had a projector setup and were watching the game on the garage! That's a good idea to combine handing out candy with the game.

But standing around talking to him and dozens of more kids were coming by, I could have really reduced my leftovers.

What a great night for taking kids out, makes me miss that.

240 in Chestermere, got the propane fire pit on the front porch, and the game on the TV.

I can’t believe how few kids we ever get. It seems like unless you go crazy with outdoor decorations, the kids will skip past. Growing up, we went to every house on the street no matter what.

I’m in Riverstone in Cranston, had tons of kids. Neighbour counted 275 so far. We ran out of candy and had enough for about 300.

A late surge brought us up to 30. More than we've had in many years. (~20 seems to be the average for me). Been a pretty good night.

Final score: 80. Pretty good surge towards the end to make this an average night, but not what I would have expected for prime time Friday. Is World Series really enough of a lure to pass up a sack of candy for kids?

Having hundreds of children ring your doorbell sounds ####ing terrifying, like a horror film or a weird Twilight Zone episode.

Ended up with about 50-60. It was fine.

Highlight was a teenager in an inflatable chicken costume. It was so bulbous that he couldn't reach into a bucket to grab candy, and all he could do was hold his sack in the air while I patiently fed candy into it. His friends were having a great time laughing about it.

Happy Halloween everyone!

Neighbour consensus is 100+ kids on our street in Mt pleasant and that it's nice to see so many. Cleared out of candy (had to raid the toddlers for a bowl or two) and then turned the lights off. Thanks blanket rezoning!

It was pretty perfect. Cool, but not too cold, no snow, nice and clear.

I dont keep records, but it feels like its been forever since we had a Halloween where it hasnt snowed.

In a way though its a shame that it was over-shadowed by the baseball game, but alas, thems the breaks.

So my family had a french Halloween experience last night. We went to a neighboring village which had a kids Halloween party in the town hall. Then as a group, all the kids in the village went on the "chasse aux bonbons" where they had to hunt for houses with Halloween decorations. At the door they say "bonbons ou sort", which I translate as give us candy or we will cast a spell on you. This is the end of the Toussaints school holiday, so there was no school. The trick or treating started at 4PM. We got back to our house shortly after 6 and had 21 trick or treaters before 9PM.

One weird thing is some houses handed out loose, unwrapped candies. My kids just used our fabric grocery bags and I'm not comfortable having them eat loose gummies out of there.

Ah the French! Always doing things their own way.

Your kids should have just asserted themselves and taken the candy they wanted!

400+ Kids. Which is typical. Others in our area got less. To be fair I had both kid and adult attractions set up.

That's awesome. I wanted to buy that giant skeleton so much but I realized that unlike the inflatable ones that squish down small those skeletons still take up a ton of space even disassembled! I'd have to get some kind of dropdown ceiling shelf in my garage to store it, it'd probably just become a permanent resident on my lawn.

Which I guess could be fun, if I wasn't lazy I could dress it up for every season.

Is that Lake Bonavista? I took my daughter and her friends out last night and I am pretty sure they went to your place.

Back in McKenzie Towne we got 130

We dropped from our record 150 last year to just 116 last night.

Although our side of the street always has less houses handing out treats, and some groups did not come over to our side as a result. Boourns.

Had an uptick of our total of 4 last year...to about 15ish! We like to take a drive/walk around a few close neighborhoods to see the decorations and such. Some nice setups for sure, but I felt it was a bit tamer overall this year. For sure the baseball game had something to do with it. Nice to see quite a few out of the outdoors setups had a TV and some adults standing around it socializing.

Shoutout to the maple maga house in Mckenzie Lake who took down their half dozen or so #### Trudeau/Carney flags, political posters and weird-ass liberal hate signs in order to put up the best decorations I saw the entire evening. Drove by twice since it was so good.
