It's tough that Sharangovich had that puck bounce on him at the end because I thought it was one of his better efforts given the circumstances, he was winning battles and had good possession numbers.
Ultimately though the middle-class guys on this team are just all big zeroes. They're trying, they're getting looks, but they're just not suited for their roles.

It was good to see Zary with a good offensive game.

Happy to see us put up 3 goals from our trade candidates and lose
Parekh picks up an apple, and Gridin is tearing it up with the Wranglers.
All is going according to plan.

Last place is far from guaranteed. Flames have been putrid and are a 2 game win streak from a tie for 22nd overall.

Imagine how embarrassing it will be for whatever team we finally beat.
And then imagine how embarrassing it is to be the only team we did beat!

Just noticed that Boston is on a 6 game winning streak. I haven't watched them this year, but they must be playing poorly. I didn't quite figure them to be in the McKenna sweepstakes this year.

yeah, but seeing Verhoeffs name next to that Shark still makes my skin crawl. After Celebrini, Misa, Smith, Dickinson and their other 57 decent prospects, they really can go pound sand. No need for yet another bluechipper to go there.

That's the sad thing - either Verhoeff or McKenna become valuable additions.
McKenna next to Celebrini would be magic, with Misa and Smith on the 2nd line.
Or Verhoeff and Dickinson on the same pairing, or on different pairings playing 85% of the game between them.
Either way you slice it, it looks like San Jose is going to end up as a powerhouse in the west. When they start improving, they are likely to once again become one of the more attractive UFA destinations too, even with the higher taxes. I think I have them eventually becoming the scariest team in the west in around 4-5 years.
