Wolf was excellent and the team played well. No finish this year.

Think I’m okay with:
- work hard
- close game
- good goaltending
- lose by one

Amazing that he coaches like there's something left to lose.

3 on 3.
In a race of the 6 skaters on the ice Backlund would have finished last by a mile.
Just stupid stupid coaching.

It’s possible this is all by design in some ways to get the public on board with a rebuild. In some ways I’m happy the season has started off like this. Makes offloading decisions easier to make if this continues.

Kerins is yet again leading the Wranglers offensively.
If the well remains dry for another couple games, maybe its worth giving him another look.
They've really put him through the ringer for how diligently he has worked and produced. Playing all the preseason games and having an off night at the end only to have that be your demise is kind of unfair.
Many players that remained with the team have done little with the opportunity.
They need a shake up. Injecting a guy who is feeling it may help.

I'm betting we'll see a switch to letting the young guys run the show in a couple weeks or so. Huska is taking some heat around here, but he and the team started the season aiming for playoffs, as they should. I think we're getting close to the point where the management and coaches can say "well, we tried" and embrace the lost season via playing time and personnel changes.
I don't get the negativity from some posters. The Flames are gonna get a high draft pick at this rate, and that seems pretty great to me! Should be an interesting season since playoffs look extremely unlikely lol

I would love to hear how Huska motivates his players because he comes across to me as exceptionally boring. And his team is boring, too.
I have no other thoughts about him as a person or coach because there really isn't much to say or think. Nothing is happening. It's just bland.

I believe the losing will continue (though not quite at this rate, obviously - this is unsustainable levels of losing!), and eventually the Flames will punt this season, even perhaps announcing a rebuild. Either way, at some point in this season, I expect the focus to shift away from 'winning' and towards 'development'. More prospects will be given more rope I think.
I would definitely start developing Klapka in the top 6. It is extremely difficult to find skill + size + physicality (the willingness to use that size!) in a top 6 player. Having a player like his will help anyone else on his line, especially the more diminutive guys that may end up on that line in the future. I think Klapka ends up becoming Calgary's version of Tom Wilson down the road. That's really valuable.

Imagine if we re-signed Mantha. His current 3G 3A would be top on this team

If Mantha were here he'd be pointless and sitting next to Sharangovich in the press box.

Are you worried about being boring or motivation?
I do think it is a lot to expect a team to play as disciplined and focused as last year particularly given the lack of talent. They rode a thin line between losing and winning all season. Starting over from square one and doing it again is a lot
Long term talent wins out. You can maybe overcome it for a short term but not for multiple seasons
I don’t think it’s a motivation issue
It’s a talent issue

It's concerning. The path to the playoffs is narrowing. Have to turn this around quick.

The path to the playoffs is lose hard, get a good draft pick who can actually score, then make the playoffs in future seasons.

I like Adam Klapka. He's a dude who you keep around to play up the lineup when you (hopefully, dear Lord) get some elite talent up front. He can chip in on the scoresheet and police things a bit out there if anyone on opposing teams gets out of line.
