Hold up.

You guys don't have the option to vote online in your municipal elections?!

55% of our last municipal election was e-vote

The Sprawl did a deep dive on this a while back, check it out and make an informed decision.

Online? We just went back to hand counting because the conspiracy loons in charge decided America's conspiracy can be our reality. Maybe next time we'll mark them into sandstone tablets with bitumen crayons.

They didn't make you fill out the form because they could tell you're the type to throw your vote away anyway.

Less than 5 minutes in Douglasdale but it will get busier with the after work crowd.

Tin foil hat time: this new, delayed sign-in process is designed to discourage younger people / people with shorter attention spans and tolerance for waiting in lines, and less time to vote in general (especially after work); it doesn't affect the retired / politically hardcore older crowd, which typically votes conservative in Alberta.

/tin foil hat off

10 minute wait in ward 6. About 9 minutes slower than last time.

That's not a tin foil hat theory, that is exactly what it's designed to do.
There is no purpose to these new rules other than to discourage turnout and make voting harder.

Exactly. Not a tinfoil hat, that's 100% the purpose. I'm standing in line, with day care coming to a close and considering abandoning the process. Working professional families with kids are not their core voter and losing my vote helps their cause.

I'm getting a little concerned because I never had to fill out an additional form and I didn't see anyone at the Polling Station have to either.

I gave them my Voter card and my ID, they gave me my voting slips, I filled them out and done and done.

What really took the time was that the age of the people working the Polling table look like they've been doing this since the Diefenbaker administration.

They probably couldnt use a computer if they'd wanted to, the one lady had one of those hats that has a magnifying glass clipped onto it so she could read her list...I #### you not.

The form is filled out by the election worker when you get your voting slips. I just had to sign the form.

I’m so indifferent in this election. No Gondek and no Farkas please. That’s all I ask.
