Got some lower bowl tickets for tomorrow's game for $50.

Placed a bet on the Flames as +195 dogs lol.

Yup. He is a 13th forward at best.

This is the right move. Griding was becoming less effective. He didn’t look like an NHLer. Honzek has been generating chances, and playing well defensively.

Honestly Gridin is the easy option because he has no waivers. We can yo yo him up and down all season if we wanted to. They aren't going to, but he provides flexibility. I thought Honzek has been been good on the backund line sans a few bad offisides.

Gridin looked great off the bat, and has a wicked shot. But now is the time to get him games and not let him get confortable. It worked with Zary and Coronato.

So the Flames need more goals so they send one of the very few guys that could hit a wide open net from two feet away.

Not sure I understand the logic. He looked like one of the best forwards in every game that I watched.

Meanwhile, in those same games there are a number of Flames forwards that are pure garbage.

Don’t agree with all of the cat fighting.

But think the same baseline thoughts. How many offensive clubs do you need hanging around the roster?

Kirkland
Sharangovich
Lomberg
Klapka
Pospisil
Farabee

May never score a goal again

The logic has been clearly explained and is:

a. he was sliding back and becoming invisible
b. he can be sent down without waivers
c. he benefits from more playing time, versus benching him
d. he has offesnive upsaide but not much in the way of results. which Flames have less offence in the games played so far? Lomberg, Honzek (who looks good though), and Kirkland. So two 4th liners and another first round rookie.

Who did you want to send down from the offensively challenged team? Guys who actually have more points like Coleman, Frost and Farabee? Zary? Klapka?

Feels like the pro tank crowd don’t like when choices are made that will help their cause.

"I want the flames to be bad and get a top pick"

-cool we sent down a young guy to grow and get better while keeping guys you've described as plugs and useless on the day to day roster

"No not like that!"

Honzek has looked solid on the Backlund line and he has played on PK.

Gridin - Kadri - Coronato

Right now I hope Gridin lights the AHL up, and is called up either after the deadline, or to start next year.
That line has been outplayed because Kadri is playing terrible. I don't know if he's not trying or he's just aging and is washed now, but he doesn't look good at all.

But it does help the tank.

I'm starting to read between the lines - ignore what Huska and/or Conroy say, or what rumors are circulated - and based on the decisions being made, the Flames want to tank this year, but do so in a manner where they do not ruin the culture.

Yes, this team would be better with Gridin and Parekh, but it risks their long-term development for short-term gain. Gridin earned and merits a spot. But playing in the AHL shelters him and gives him more opportunity. Kerins and Kuznetsov likely earned spots, but given the weakness of the team, they would be at risk of flaring-out. Parekh could play more at this level, but there is risk in exposure; since he can't be sheltered in the AHL, they're doing the next best thing. Honzek they think is better served spending time with Backlund. Zary as an NHL centre is a good thing - if it is on the 4th as he learns.

They other players are there since they help the tank, but they all seem to be picked because they can keep a good attitude. The glut of middle-six guys helps the tank since few of them can generate offense, but they will play in expanded roles and then can be flipped for assets.

This process can likely run only one or two years, since given the timeframe of their prospects and the new building, I expect the plan is to be competitive for 2027-28.

I expect Andersson and Coleman, and at least one of Sharangovich, Farabee, and Kadri will be gone by the TDL (if this is a two-year process, then the last two will likely be held for another year).

This is probably the right move. I love Gridin, and I have loosely compared him to Pavel Bure a couple of times with the way he plays. However, I think just like Honzek last year, Gridin deserved to make the team, but faded a little. He has played exactly zero AHL games, and is only 19. Let him improve down there, and come back halfway through the season if he is showing himself to be deserving of a recall.

I think its ridiculous that a rebuilding team has so many middling veteran players we can't find space for our future to log minutes. That said, I have no issues with Gridin heading down for a bit. When he is knocking it out of the park in a month or two he will be back.

I’ve no doubt we’re due for another busy TDL. We’ll be sending some vets out the door.

You’ve got:

Andersson
Coleman
(Maybe) Kadri —> If he doesn’t waive, July 1st it is with the 13 team NTC.
(If overpayment) Pospisil —> I do feel like Klapka makes him expendable. And there was general interest around the league before.

Team tank will be thrilled. Trust the process. Scorch earth doesn’t happen in a day, and you still need vets to insulate youth.

I believe "tank for a better chance to add a potentially generational talent to our roster, because we want to be good enough to beat teams like Florida and Tampa... but it's also important to get rid of dead weight and start letting the kids play meaningful minutes in meaningful situations in meaningful NHL games" is the full name, but I also understand that "pro-tank" is easier to write out.
