at least both teams should be in the same boat...Flames have the fewest in the league this year though for once

The lack of offence is a bit concerning. Aside from that, it wasn't a bad game for a 2nd game of a back to back.

I think Huska's top priority should be to activate Coronato 5 on 5, and Kadri while Huberdeau is gone. I think the best option to do that is by putting Coronato on the Backlund line, and letting Zary cook with Kadri.

Gridin had another strong game IMO, he keeps looking good in both zones.

The loss of Bahl is a huge loss, hopefully he isn't going to miss too much time.

I look forward to seeing Parekh.

PP2 looked much better than PP1. Sharangovich had a great shot, that Demko stopped.

The Frost line with another strong game.

Flames missed the Net a lot. Coleman maybe 3-4 times just in the 1st.

Meh. I’d rather beat the s***stains up North and lose to the Canucks than the opposite. Other than hating that little muppet Garland , I don’t care about them- irrelevant. Hope the Canucks make the oilers 0-2.

Wolf played 3 periods, OT, and a shootout that went to round 8.... To me, it seemed logical to give Cooley the start. If they won I'd be praising Wolf, but they didn't... So it just seems like a waste.

Yeah I would rather watch Parekh make mistakes instead of Bean and Hanley.

They did that last year! The Flames lost back to back games against the Blues... which is why they missed playoffs.

Ok

That is feelings, not math

Counterpoint… Wolf is, frankly, simply better than Cooley

That’s fine!

Not saying it guarantees us wins.

They scored one goal despite out chancing the Canucks
D was fine, they allowed 5 HD chances in all situations
Forwards didn't finish

Wolf played poorly but it didn't really matter they scored one goal

How much worse this would look too, had we not scored three insanely lucky goals last night.

I would take Bean out for Parekh. Lomberg and Kirkland out when Huberdeau and Pospisil are back. Need some more offense.

Zary's goal was highly skilled

Finishers need to start finishing. Not sure how many grade A chances Coronato needs.

Which makes it feel like a waste. At the same time I was hoping to see Cooley play like he did in the first half of last year.

Good:

-Gridin good again
-Sharangovich came to life a bit
-No shutout
-PK was better
-Backlund line good again

Bad:
-looked tired and a bit uninspired
-Bahl hurt
-Wolf getting beat clean on shots
-Kirkland..."What would you say... You do here?"

Ugly:
-Flames missing the net. 57% of shot attempts at 5v5 but only 41% of shots on net
-third period they ran out of gas... High Danger Chances VAN 4-CGY 0
-Frost PP unit stinks

Lines:
Gridin-Kadri-Coronato TOI 7:13 xGF 45.19
Farabee-Frost-Sharangovich TOI 7:48 xGF 71.50
Lomberg-Kirkland-Klapka TOI 5:46 xGF 67.44
Zary-Backlund-Coleman TOI 7:13 xGF 70.26

Those numbers look somewhat flattering but the Flames apparently only generated one High Danger Scoring Chance for all game. A bit concerning that they are struggling the same way they did the first half of last season. Huska spoke about it a few times before the season so I really don't think this high volume - low quality style is what they actually want from the players. That said, Demko was good too.

I don't put the loss on the decision to play Wolf. I'm sure they would have lost either way.

But I do find it really strange that this team is so averse to play one of their backups.

That's the plan you made all summer. You have to try it out atleast and it's not like it's game 7 of the cup finals.

Is it a disconnect between the goals of Coaching and Management?

It just feels very odd. See what happens on Saturday I guess.
