Klapka played well, both the penalties were Oiler stick grabs

Seems that we have two forward units already showing signs of good chemistry, Gridin-Frost-Coronato and Coleman-Backlund-Zary. I would try Farabee with Kadri and Sharangovich, they looked at least passable with Frost between them. Which leaves the rest to pull 4th line duty.

Now you have a sheltered scoring line, less sheltered scoring line, matchups line, 4th line. No need to turn the blender on. Yay!

Keep in mind that Cooley looked shaky in last year's preseason as well and then went on an insane hot streak with the Wranglers.

If the Flams feel they do not have their backup yet then I don’t see an issue going with a 24 year old back to back in October.

If the Flames plan to go the next month + without making a deal then I agree go Cooley but if by the end of the weekend Husso or someone else is acquired then it makes sense to roll with Wolf

I wager Cooley plays and if he stinks there's a veteran back up incoming.

Did he?

.947 SV% last preseason vs .846 SV% this preseason

I just don't think Farabee has ever done anything in his career or since he joined the Flames that could justify him playing on the first line. He ought to be playing with Backlund and Coleman on a shutdown line that can contribute some points. He played over 20 minutes last night. That's not reasonable.

Leave the other two lines for more offensive players. Free Zary up a bit. He's one of our most offensively dynamic players. Let him play his game.

Agreed, sounds like they are planning to make a trade. If they can find someone they trust to play 25-30 games then you can play Wolf today

You play Wolf if you want to win.

You swap goalies last night, and we have Skinner they have Wolf the Oilers win 7-1. I don't think we can really afford to play anyone but the elite goalie if we want to win the game.

I don't see any reason why Sharangovich should get moved up and Klapka down.

Neither have earned that change.

I don't disagree with your point, but I want them to do whatever makes Zary a better player 2 years from now. I'm less concerned about Farabee's development.

No young player we've had in recent history hasn't benefited from extended stints with Backlund and Coleman. Even our more offensive ones. Seems to make them better players all around, and more ready to contribute their offence while still be responsible down the road. I actually love Zary getting some time with Coleman and Backlund, agreed it reigns him in a bit short term, but love it for later.

Probably true but are they going to do that for 82 games?

Let’s make sure to burn out Wolf before he gets going

Also to Cooley, we love you but we don’t really trust you

You can rest him when we play CAR or NYI or other teams we don't care about.

I truly believe after that game 1 collapse last year against us, it ruined the entire Canuck season!

I hope Cooley stands on his head tonight and gets the shutout, proving all the naysayers wrong.
