He has 60 CAREER points. And 148 games.
This is $500k for every game he's played, or over $1.1M for every point he's gotten.
Yes, the cap is going up, but this is insanity. MacTavish must have thought what WTSF?

Very good player, but that’s too high, IMO. I guess Andersson will be happy to hear this.

He's good offensively but his defence is a work in progress. I know a lot of ppl hate the advanced stats but he was a 40% corsi player year before last. He looked better last year but to me he looks like a good 2nd pairing guy on a strong team i guess he has room to grow with that kind of term

For those of you confused by this and the McTavish situation back to back...hear me out.
Maybe, perhaps, it just might be possible that...Verbeek is a terrible GM?

They have what they expect to be their franchise D locked up for the next 9 years
Even if it’s a bit of an overpay is the control that is important
Teams are doing everything they can to lock up their young players . I honestly wonder if seeing JG walk and MT effectively walk was a huge wake up call to the GMs not to nickle and dime your young core members

I would love to snag Minty, if he’s as disgruntled as they say he is.

I think it definitely had an impact.
There’s problem been a bit of a realization league-wide (from managers and players) that players have a lot of power. Players can and often will go wherever they want, so contracts like this one and Kaprisov’s become the norm.
Unless you’re a cup winner or extremely close, those hometown discounts to keep the band together are mostly off the table. You have to sign guys and sign them early, to virtually whatever they want, or you’ll lose them.
