If they bring him up it's because he's playing better than Skinner or Pickard. Or one of them's hurt.
So they either waive Skinner or Pickard and they clear... or they're on IR so it doesn't matter.

Based on Goals Saved Above Average per 60 minutes, Ingram ranked 64 out of 66 goalies.
Skinner was 44.

Oh yes. He'll thrive behind that defence.

So one of them is hurt for a few games (likely) so they call up Imgram and then a week later that guy is back...3 headed monster like the poster said
I would be very Oilers for them to waive Skinner/Pickard and they go somewhere else and kill it lol
IMO you only make goalie moves in the NHL if its a clear upgrade...do the Oilers not have a goalie prospect in the AHL?

Skinner would get picked up 100% IMO
he's 26 and makes 2.6M
He just isn't a good starter on a contending team
2 average backup goalies or 3 average backup goalies doesn't move the needle much though

With Woll out for an uncertain amount of time, and Reimer just on a pto, gotta think the leafs would claim Pickard or Skinner

It's interesting that this news comes out right after Carter Hart decides to play for VGK this season. I bet he was the Oilers' number 1 target.
The last goalie on the market is Samsonov. He actually put up Vladar level numbers, so it's strange he didn't find a landing spot.

Where are you seeing this?

Are you just arguing that they shouldn't have bothered signing Ingram because that means they have 3 NHL goalies?
The counterpoint is clearly the 2 guys they have are mediocre, and Ingram is too. If Ingram gets called up, and then they have to decide who to waive to send one back down, it'll either be obvious who to send down and they'll clear because they suck, or they just send Ingram back down and if he gets claimed who cares because you didn't need him anymore anyway.
This trade doesn't change anything for the Oilers at all, just gives them someone waiting in the wings who isn't totally green, IF they have to use him, and IF he actually looks to be playing ok in the minors.
I'm as much an advocate of all things E=NG, but this trade is zero risk for them, and likely doesn't matter at all at the end of the year. It's not a 3 headed monster scenario because Ingram is just the new #3, who'll probably not play an NHL game this season anyway.

having 3 goalies that think they are NHLers rarely ends well...you can say just keep him in the AHL unless they need him all you want but he doesn't want to be there. Do the Oilers not have a goalie prospect that needs AHL time? Samuel Jonsson is listed as one of their top prospects and just came to NA to play in the AHL. Olivier Rodrigue was supposedly something special according to Oiler fans the last couple years.
So who is the odd man out in the AHL?

I am almost certain it was a favor to Ingram. At the start of last year he was a face of the new team, its starting goalie. He wasn't great, wasn't awful, but fans began really embracing Vejmelka, especially after his 49 save game vs Carolina. A month later Ingram's mom passed away and he entered player assistance after that. The belief in Utah was that Ingram would end up in Edmonton, Calgary, or Winnipeg so he could be closer to family/support.

I suppose that if the Oilers need to have 2 at all times, next season they can re-sign Ingram and trade to get Brown back.

For those more informed regarding the CBA, are there any rules or limits in regards to 'Future Considerations?'
