I thought Kuemper looked pretty good most playoffs. The kings never really learned how to stop mcdavid

Sportsnet suggesting the Kings may look to Ken Holland, although the article is highly speculative.

If you can't beat 'em, hire the guy that got pushed out by 'em, I guess?

While his reputation may seem clueless while with the Oiler, like other vets such Todd McLellan and Chiarelli, the amount of say and control he had in his role was vastly different than Detroit or any other NHL GM situation.

He was the chosen one from Lowe when Lowe staged his coup (specifically blaming some signings on Chiarelli) , getting in the Katz's ear to overthrow the guy that pushed him out a few years earlier.

But Lowe took the reins back over.
Case in point, a seasoned hockey guy like Holland wouldn't rush to sign Kassian to an extension in mid January, within the two weeks between the next Oilers game after the Tkachuk thing where Lowe and Oilers fans were trotting out that code to any media outlet that would listen.

It was comical and purely pandering PR from Lowe. But Holland is the one that has to get up in front of the press and justify it.

It really will be fascinating to hear one of these guys eventually tell all about the behind the scenes. Ference pulled back the curtain a bit, but when Holland or someone else wants to document the dysfunction within the organization, it will be pretty juicy.

Ken Holland was bad in Detroit once the playing field was even. He benefited from an owner with deep pockets to fund scouting in Europe and buying free agents prior to that.

You can just ask Detroit fans about his terrible trades and signings before leaving Detroit.

The retreads in this league is crazy. A 70 year old GM. Is Lou going to join him?

Crazy that Holland is getting another chance. This league really does have an issue when it comes to recycling coaches and GM's that are well past their prime. I get that hiring a first time GM brings some unknowns, but you know what you are going to get with Holland and it's mediocrity at best as he doesn't have McDavid and Draisaitl to bail out his awful moves in LA.

If Pacific teams want to make themselves worse, by all means go ahead.

I understand that Holland was founded in 1815. I'm sure the Dutch have been around longer than that but its the Netherlands so you never can tell.

It's official.

Also sounds like Hiller is going to stick around, and coached with Babs in Detroit when Holland was GM.

The Kings are clearly itching to make it a five-peat next year when they inevitably face the Oilers in the first round AGAIN
