Well it's the only series without a Canadian team involved. So it's to be expected. If it was Stars and Blues playing instead of Jets, I doubt we would be nearly as invested either.

I just can't make myself care about Carolina and I don't believe or want to believe they can ever get over the hump. I'm not sure if I like Ovechkin or want him to win another Cup but he's a compelling character and player.

No shutout watch for Andersen.
Chychrun scores to make it 2-1.

Taylor Hall scores three minutes later, 3-1 Carolina.

Not sure how Carolina can be this good, they have one player picked in the top 5 and he is not even one of their 3 best players.

Ovechkin scores on the two man advantage, 3-2 now. It is hang on time for the Hurricanes with less than six minutes remaining in regulation time.

I managed to watch most of the game tonight. Carolina is looking really solid from top to bottom. Sound defensively and quick to counterattack, and they don’t rely on one or two gamebreakers to keep them going. I think they could go far this year.

Hurricanes say, ‘Nuts to that,’ and blow the Caps out to finish 5-2. I approve of this.

Next three drafts per PuckPedia, too:

4 x 1sts
2 x 2nds
4 x 3rds

Right? Damn they play a great game and leverage their strengths.

Have you read about Seth Jarvis and his hometown friends? Because, that’s all I needed.

They literally play the system Sutter implemented here with more freedom offensively.

Shot suppression and put everything towards the net. Carolina is usually top 3 in corsi.

It's a good system if you have good shooters who can capitalize on their chances. Tkachuk and Gaudreau showed that here, and the Canes definitely have the talent to make it work. Not as much high-end skill as the Flames had that year, but plenty of good depth – 10 players with double-digit goals.

That's right. He's 3-2-5 in 9 games so far (according to NHL.com). Decent second-line numbers, which is all they need from him at this point.

How far down the road do those picks get kicked if the did end up top 10?

It won't happen...Dallas will be good for awhile. But I'd still like to know...like do they become unprotected in 27 and 29?
